This 2019 horror film, based on Stephen King's 1986 novel, has made a huge splash on Netflix in the U.S.!
What was super cool about this sequel, was its previous box office performance that took this hit to nearly $473 Million worldwide!
The story is about a group of friends who meet up 27 years after their terrifying childhood encounter with a monster, a terrifying shape-shifting clown called Pennywise (played by Bill Skarsgård)! They return to their hometown of Derry, Maine, to settle this terrifying score once and for all!

Netflix shared some of the most recent stats and It Chapter Two had some pretty major success in just a short period. "It Chapter Two" took the 7th spot in the most popular movie rankings on Netflix ( U.S. only) for the week of September 30th - October 6th, 2024.
What makes this even more exciting? It ranked higher than films like 2 Guns ( 2013 ), Robin Hood ( 2018 ) and Halloween ( 2018 ).
It Chapter Two's Critical And Commercial Success:
The first film "It" was released in 2017, bringing audiences a thrilling experience with incredible success, even with an 85% critics rating and 84% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes! What's more? It had nearly $702.8 Million in global box office revenue on just a $35 Million budget.
While It Chapter Two, didn't quite match those numbers. This hit took off at the box office and had $473 million and it also had incredible support from moviegoers as it had 78% ratings.
This was also made with some significant star power!
- The main star Bill Hader and some more amazing and recognizable faces like Jessica Chastain and James McAvoy joined Skarsgård (returning in his awesome role as Pennywise)
This amazing sequel couldn't come at a more exciting time! The prequel series, "It: Welcome to Derry," is set to come out in 2025! It will tell a story based in the 1960s!

The horror movie industry brings in major box office sales. It’s typically low budget! Those horror films tend to have great success on the big screen. This hit, though has such a high budget! About $79 Million, meaning It Chapter Two, brought impressive results, not just because of the story but the intense production work involved that helped Pennywise and his horrifying appearance to really capture a feeling like never before!

Andy Muschietti really helped to create those epic moments with the two It films. Muschietti has another great series coming up. Along with Barbara Muschietti and Jason Fuchs he created It: Welcome to Derry and even directed the pilot of the upcoming HBO show! It was created for HBO Max.
This story has nine total episodes.
What's cool about it?
- This looks to not only tell a prequel story that brings the series even more into focus! It shows what events happen long ago and lead up to those famous first scenes!
- But the show doesn't look like its ending, as HBO could just create a second season, making a show to fill a need!
For now the cast will star Skarsgård back as Pennywise, but many others are appearing like Madeleine Stowe, James Remar, Taylour Paige, Jovan Adepo, Peter Outerbridge, Kimberly Guerrero, Tyner Rushing, and Morningstar Angeline! Although the big trailer is yet to come, HBO recently gave fans a sneak peek in 2024! It seemed that this new installment was hinting towards those super intense violent moments seen in the prior two It movies!

Netflix already seems to be looking to offer up another horror-themed season with two new horror movies already trending, giving a fantastic sense of anticipation especially now that Halloween is just around the corner.
What stands out is the pair of It movies. Those films will probably remain a massive success as far as adaptations for Stephen King, particularly after you see some other flops like Children of the Corn ( 2020 ) and Firestarter ( 2022 )
