The Plot Behind Blazing Saddles

It looks like a real movie but has these great elements of comedic genius.

  • Hedley Lamarr is an antagonist who is played by Harvey Korman,
  • His plan is a super bold scheme: to get a railroad built!
  • His goal was to get some new train lines through this area of town called Rock Ridge.

What makes Lamarr's goal more interesting is how this character tries to take a dark path! To do it he makes an assumption- it seems he put a black sheriff called Bart in the middle of things, thinking the townsfolk would freak out about his race! It appears it doesn't work that way, because Bart, (played by Cleavon Little, doesn't give up!) He brings in his new buddy a gunslinger to help take down Lamarr and his wild scheme.

Gene Wilder was a comedic superstar, known for movies like "Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory," and appears alongside Little. What they manage to create is truly genius as this fun take on Western movies is as great as it is.

And who knows? You just might enjoy it more than some of those classic western Movies that may have been lacking. It is also incredibly relevant, too, with a special dose of satire that calls out racism that many fans, from that time period or recent generations may appreciate.
