Get ready for some robot action because Henry Cavill, the star from Man of Steel, is joining the cast of the upcoming live-action Voltron movie!
A New Voltron Movie
Amazon MGM Studios is making a live-action version of the iconic animated series Voltron. This exciting new adaptation follows space explorers who pilot a super-giant robot to defeat intergalactic threats, making it another entry in the exciting world of superhero movie adaptations.
This project is being directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber. Known for his work in comedies such as Dodgeball and We're the Millers and the action movies Skyscraper and Red Notice. It is also slated to star Daniel Quinn Toye in another lead role.
Henry Cavill's Role
While there's nothing concrete about Cavill's character yet, what makes it compelling is that it could become another lead for this very well-known actor. It is unclear just what character he will be portraying at this stage in production.
Cavill's New Franchise?
For Cavill, this is exciting. This is another massive project and it is looking to create something that really can keep going. He will be featured in another huge adaptation, a live-action Highlander reboot and the Warhammer 40,000 franchise adaptation (which he will even help create) also from Amazon MGM Studios. The big question though is this going to finally launch Cavill to have his very own successful series?
He did previously star as Superman in the DC Extended Universe movies, beginning in 2013 with Man of Steel, and the future was even teased back in 2022’s Black Adam. However, another actor will be stepping into the iconic Superman role now!
- David Corenswet will be Superman starting in 2025
Cavill was also a main character for the Netflix series, The Witcher, but has been replaced. Another actor is playing the Witcher and will continue the series into the final two seasons.
- Liam Hemsworth takes on The Witcher.
It appears his other film Argylle, from 2024 may not create the franchise he was hoping for, because its box office didn't perform as well as it might have, as some fans did not realize the film came from an existing series and thought the movie itself, and the associated story around it, was fake or ghostwritten.
The Voltron Effect
What's going to happen to Voltron?
Adding Cavill, could make Voltron gain traction, even before its official release!
- It will give Voltron the benefit of being in the media.
- It might make fans even more interested.
- What's especially compelling is that it will certainly help it outperform the Argylle movie
Bringing on Cavill to this already interesting cast of talent, is likely going to have even more positive publicity and could also make this new adaptation become the iconic franchise for this talented actor!
