Netflix presented Adam Sandler fans a surprise Christmas gift by announcing Happy Gilmore 2 nearly 28 years after original hit 1996 comedy film during their NFL Christmas Gameday event. Netflix shared an official trailer for Happy Gilmore 2 that features Sandler Christopher McDonald Julie Bowen Dennis Dugan Allen Covert and Ben Stiller reprising roles from 1996 Happy Gilmore movie. Sandler fans received great surprise with this Netflix update on Christmas day and this announcement made on sports event generated big excitement about the new film.
Sequel Plot Revealed: Happy Gilmore Enters Senior Golf Tour with Original Characters' Return
Happy Gilmore 2 follows Sandler’s character Happy Gilmore a hockey player now a golfer competing within a senior golf tour as was hinted in 2022. Christopher McDonald is also returning as pro-golfer Shooter McGavin and Julie Bowen back again as GIlmore's romantic love interest Virginia Venit creating familiar themes from 1996 film. The newest announcement of Ben Stiller joins to portray his Hal L character also shows his involvement previously in Happy Gilmore and later in 2020's Hubie Halloween.
The sequel marks 13th project between Sandler and writing partner Tim Herlihy showing that old collaborations continue strong among long time partnerships from Saturday Night Live including Tina Fey who worked alongside them at Saturday Night Live back in early 1990s. Tim Herlihy wrote many of Sandler's famous sketches for SNL, Canteen Boy.
