The disaster movie Greenland was a huge hit back in 2020, and now, the sequel, Greenland: Migration, is finished filming!
Greenland: Migration Wraps Filming
Filming wrapped back in July 2024. This means that fans will have the chance to see this exciting new movie around early 2025!
The original film starred Gerard Butler and a powerhouse of incredible talent and those stars return once again! Morena Baccarin and Roger Dale Floyd bring back their roles from the original Greenland as well! It's an impressive sequel to see!
The budget also jumped way up for this new sequel! Greenland: Migration had an incredible boost and now has a $90 million budget compared to $35 million for the original.
Chances for a Greenland 3
Sébastien Raybaud, the producer of Greenland and Greenland: Migration, gave a tantalizing update in an interview with Deadline.
While he doesn't confirm that a Greenland 3 is in production. He does leave the door open! Raybaud noted that there is a bit of difficulty, that depends on what happens in Greenland: Migration, potentially a big plot twist or even the loss of one of the film's characters. It’s hinted at as a challenge for this potential film. Regardless, Raybaud seems optimistic that there's a plan!
Greenland's Box Office Success
What might be interesting about this new series, is that while Greenland made over $52 million at the box office versus its $35 million budget. That is why, it could mean there is something huge up for Greenland 3, and depends largely on how Greenland: Migration is able to generate sales. Its huge, $90 million budget is much bigger than Greenland and might need a substantial return to become profitable! The financial details may just determine what happens in the series.

Greenland 3- Will It Happen?
Will Greenland 3 be made? Time will tell! Its chance is still unknown but Raybaud's positive comments still suggest a real possibility. The fact that the new movie's production was successful is exciting. A movie with this many actors will be a welcome addition and potentially could do great. This may only make this series even more anticipated for fans of this thrilling story and gives many of Butler's and other fans a good chance to be excited about more to come.
