A Horror Dream Team: Djimon Hounsou and Darren Lynn Bousman Unite for "The Monster"!

Get ready for a seriously spooky team-up! Djimon Hounsou (known for his roles in the massively successful A Quiet Place franchise) is joining forces with horror legend Darren Lynn Bousman (director of multiple Saw movies) for a brand-new horror-thriller called The Monster! This is big news, folks! It features two of the most insanely popular horror series of all time. A Quiet Place brought in nearly $1 billion (from three movies!) – those Abbot family adventures always keep us on the edge of our seats, and those insanely successful Saw movies generated $1 billion (through eleven films) creating equally disturbing scenes throughout. We are looking at major franchises, big money and serious expectations!

Deadline broke this awesome news. Hounsou will star in this film; the script was written by Jonathan Bernstein and James Greer (who wrote Steven Soderbergh’s Unsane) and also features those names who made it all possible, including Mark Burg (producing) and Lee Nelson and David Tish (producing). Djimon Hounsou is seriously talented! He earned massive critical acclaim; winning nominations including the Golden Globe (for Steven Spielberg’s Amistad) and Academy Award nominations for Best Supporting Actor (for Blood Diamond and In America)!  He's been in other seriously huge franchises including MCUDCEUFast & Furious, and A Quiet Place.   But, most of his earlier roles are those secondary characters! Now, this is his chance to dominate the screen and shine. It's finally happening, those amazing opportunities are unfolding!

He’s kept extremely busy! Hounsou recently starred in A Quiet Place: Day One, completed filming Beneath the Storm (a shark movie, folks!), and is currently on the set of The Zealot.   This new Monster project (filming starts in November) only further increases that immense list and really demonstrates his value. And that awesome, insanely scary experience that Darren Lynn Bousman has directed some of the biggest horror projects – several Saw movies – shows that it is certainly one scary production. We expect some greatness and an overall intense movie.

What's "The Monster" About? A Leasing Scam Gone Wrong

The Monster is about two millennials who create a pretty intense apartment-leasing scam in New York City; something totally unethical, however, its unethical choices are only the first part of that story; and when the building owner (playing to Hounsou's strengths and dramatic ability; using those past talents from those previous intense roles), who has some deeply dark secrets; these very secrets will flip that whole scenario, and create something that’s completely unexpected and far more terrifying than that initial plan. Given Hounsou's experience, we’re guessing he’ll be that creepy landlord. His previous work demonstrates his perfect fit for portraying that specific level of intensity and ruthlessness required for the kind of chilling and villainous performance that’s required for creating something scary in a suspenseful context.

This team-up is beyond awesome.
