Deadpool & Thanos’ MCU Fight Can Debut A Major Villain Not Yet Seen In Live-Action
New fan art brings together Deadpool and Thanos in a potential crossover movie that introduces a powerful Marvel villain who has been missing from the MCU. Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool is set to join the MCU permanently in Shawn Levy's upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine. The team-up storyline of Deadpool's Phase 5 debut could hint at the Merc with a Mouth partnering with other MCU characters in the future. While Shawn Levy may want to bring together Deadpool and Tom Holland's Spider-Man, Reynolds' antihero might be a better match for an iconic Marvel Studios villain.
Interestingly, Deadpool shares an unusual connection to Thanos in Marvel Comics, so this could be a potential partnership that may be adapted for the Mcu. This has been imagined in new fan art shared by soloauthority, which pits Deadpool and Thanos against each other during their quest for love.
Death's MCU Debut Can Be An Unexpected Crossover
This Mcu concept poster imagines Deadpool and Thanos coming together to try to court Death, a formidable Marvel villain who has never been seen in the MCU. Her debut would form the perfect basis for this unexpected crossover for the MCU's Deadpool.
Death made her first appearance in Marvel Comics back in 1973's Captain Marvel #26, introduced as one of the most powerful cosmic entities in the Marvel Universe. Despite her grandeur and longevity, Death hasn't appeared in person in the Mcu, even though she was crucial to several storylines that Marvel Studios has adapted into live-action. Most notably, Death is at the core of Thanos' quest for the Infinity Stones in Marvel Comics, as he sought to eradicate half the universe in an attempt to woo the entity, rather than bring balance to the cosmos.
Deadpool and Thanos' Love Triangle
Thanos' obsession with Death in Marvel Comics has persisted for many decades, which created some hilarious moments when Deadpool began to form a bond with the cosmic entity. After a series of near-death experiences, Deadpool and Death begin to form a romantic bond, which prompts a jealous Thanos to curse Deadpool with immortality, stopping him from seeing his new love interest. This could form the basis of a potential live-action Deadpool and Thanos crossover, especially since Thanos has recently been rumored to return to the MCU.
A meeting of Deadpool and Thanos in the MCU would also have the added benefit of reuniting Ryan Reynolds with his Deadpool 2 co-star Josh Brolin. Josh Brolin played Cable in Deadpool 2, and was subject to a Thanos-themed joke, so bringing Ryan Reynolds and Josh Brolin back together, this time with the latter as Thanos, would be a fantastic twist. While this would create some truly funny moments, bringing Deadpool and Thanos coming together in live-action might have a more dire impact on the MCU, as Death could be just around the corner.
