Bruce Campbell's Cars 2 Regret: Missed Millions & Voice Acting

Bruce Campbell, the legendary horror icon best known for his role as Ash Williams in the Evil Dead franchise, recently revealed a surprising wish: to have played a larger part in a certain Disney film!

Campbell, known for his witty one-liners and over-the-top performances, recently sat down with Variety to discuss some memorable moments from his long career, while also shedding light on a surprising regret: his character's death in Cars 2!

While Campbell's extensive resume boasts many memorable roles, he confessed a wish for a larger role in Pixar's animated sequel, Cars 2. The reason? As he jokingly admitted, the substantial financial benefits he would have received for the film from continued streams and views. While he received just $12 for recording, this amounts to an investment as Campbell said that an animated film gains high profits through long term streams, including for viewers like Billy (Campbell is referring to a generic young viewer) who watches these films multiple times, even throughout the years!

The Cars 2 Cameo

Campbell's character, Rod "Torque" Redline, was only a cameo role in Cars 2. While the part provided Campbell with a showcase of his particular charm. As even Campbell himself described: "wearing a disguise", this role was not only very short in screen time. This unique characteristic and the very unique characteristics that make it memorable is something that many will easily overlook. However, Redline is memorable as he even gives Campbell one of his well-known quick wits to capture an audience. It was this short and sharp performance and lines that was noted in Variety.

He went on to add: "I was just wearing a disguise. You guys are stuck looking like this."

What's truly unique, too is this cameo, Campbell's role ended as his character was essentially killed by exposure to deadly fuel. This means a larger role in future installments is highly unlikely and likely something fans won't ever see!

The Voice Acting World
