Catch a Glimpse of Barry Keoghan's New Movie, Bird!

Bird Trailer: Barry Keoghan's Post-Saltburn Triumph

Hot off the heels of his massive success in Saltburn (which totally exploded on streaming in December 2023!), Barry Keoghan is back!  And his next project might surprise you – Bird! This isn't some big superhero action flick, or some crazy high-concept drama. It's a beautiful coming-of-age tale that is going to resonate with almost everyone, particularly given its themes which relate to the power of connections between family, yet this kind of theme would be something very familiar to those who may've encountered more standard teen-themed coming-of-age experiences. Directed by the Academy Award-winning Andrea Arnold (Wasp),  this is another amazing work from a filmmaker who has never disappointed before! The cast and the characters will generate immense intrigue and appeal for any viewers.

Bird follows a 12-year-old girl (Nykiya Adams in her first leading role!) struggling with her neglectful father (Barry Keoghan) and finds excitement in this incredibly exciting adventure with her newfound friend, Bird (Franz Rogowski). It promises this wonderfully weird mix of reality and fantasy, showcasing raw, intense human drama which perfectly appeals to both adults and younger viewers.

MUBI just dropped that awesome trailer! Check it out below! The trailer spotlights the incredible emotional range.  Adams totally delivers an amazingly heartbreaking performance; really creating and conveying her raw intensity to her character. She makes viewers feel all those very human emotions with unexpected surprises as they watch it.

Early reactions from Cannes (where the movie premiered, after all) hint at greatness –  descriptions like, "beautiful, unique, full of surprises," "luminous," "empathetic," and even "shimmering, lovely, and emotionally generous".  Those initial words of praise really help build expectation;  building anticipation which made viewers really wonder why Keoghan might’ve taken a lesser role. Those reviews were incredibly specific about that amazing performance.

It also gives amazing praise regarding Keoghan’s performance which help to raise expectation before even the official release date has arrived: calling Keoghan a "whirlwind of exuberant, volatile energy".   Considering those other notable roles, mainly in various Marvel and DC movies, Bird provides an amazing showcase that is going to hopefully bring even more eyes to this talented actor's name and help more viewers notice this uniquely talented actor!

Keoghan's charm is undeniable; those moments of his incredibly raw yet completely engaging personality shines.  His intensity here doesn’t feel exactly over-the-top; something that those in a specific range of experience will recognize immediately; that amazingly raw honesty shown in many of his best roles, creating the potential for this upcoming film to create its own wave.   This also makes people recognize that unique ability of Arnold's directing and production approach.

Bird is going to deliver that amazingly unique and emotional story, beautifully shot, featuring both stunning cinematography and heart-wrenching moments.   That incredible early praise alone makes this an absolute must-watch movie this year!

Bird has massive potential and based upon existing press materials and praise alone is something that makes those familiar with Keoghan and Arnold eager for its theatrical debut, particularly given its smaller scale than those typical superhero epics which helped to create Keoghan’s popularity initially. The trailers generated lots of interest! Its likely success after Saltburn, already on MUBI! Get ready. Its upcoming release (November 8th in theaters, MUBI later) means this might end up becoming yet another surprisingly big win that both critics and movie audiences enjoy this coming fall!
