Will Argylle 2 Actually Take Place?
Though the movie was a major disappointment in theaters, the Argylle conclusion obviously sets up more adventures for Conway and other important characters. At an estimated $200 million, the spy film was an extremely costly project. The conventional Hollywood blockbuster formula dictates that Argylle would have had to make somewhere in the middle of $500 million to cover not only the production budget but also theater cuts of the gross and marketing expenses.
Argylle arrived nowhere near this figure. Argylle's box office as of right now sits at a dismal $96.2 million globally. Vaughn's picture will have to generate Apple TV+ subscribers in addition to performing well on VOD to offset this dismal performance. Although specific statistics in these two categories aren't really ever made public, it's difficult to envision either will ever be high enough to tip the needle as much as is required after the movie fell so short of standards.
Argylle Director Matthew Vaughn investigates whether there are Argylle 2 opportunities and finds that the Henry Cavill spy movie is doing well on streaming.
Argylle director Matthew Vaughn asks viewers whether they could expect an Argylle 2. Vaughn's most recent action comedy debuted earlier this year; it centers espionage author Elly Conway (Bryce Dallas Howard) as she becomes caught in a somewhat realistic network of worldwide spycraft reflecting the events in one of her books. When Argylle first came out, his reviews were abjectly bad; the movie, which also stars Henry Cavill and Sam Rockwell, was a huge box office letdown.
Vaughn tackles the possibility of Argylle 2 following the terrible reaction to the first movie in a recent Empire interview. The director points out that the film's strong streaming success makes a sequel—or a Young Argylle spinoff—not yet out of question. His whole comment is shown below:
The Prospect for a Sequel
The most important difference from the first movie would be its price tag should another film advance. Should Vaughn be able to create Argylle 2 for about $81 million—which is expected to be the budget for his first Kingsman film—the film could have a shot.

Argylle's background is as follows:
Director Matthew Vaughn showed interest in producing Argylle 2 shortly following the 2024 release of the first film. Though the movie hasn't yet been revealed, Vaughn has mentioned that ideas for the highly exciting spy comedy sequel are under development.
Regarding contemporary film, the concept of a sequel could pique audiences' curiosity. Hollywood is used to stories continuing like this; with a strong streaming performance, the movie could be sufficient to justify a sequel. If the correct actions are made, Argylle 2's release could show to be a hit.
The Argylle 2 Announcement.
Regarding streaming, we're doing fairly nicely. Individuals find it appealing. Should we be able to create another one, I would be quite delighted. Texts I'm receiving state, "Wow, these reviews were absolutely brutal!" More people watching Argylle increases our chances of producing another one. We have it set; I would want to create another one. It would result in a pleasant small movie. We will keep an eye on. It's not impossible.
The director's remarks amply show the ongoing popularity of the movie; it is flourishing on the streaming service even with bad box office turnout. The director's openness about building a sequel could potentially suggest a future movie release.
Argylle: Examining a Movie
Director Matthew Vaughn expressed interest in doing Argylle 2 following the 2024 premiere of the first movie. Though Vaughn has said that concepts for the action-packed espionage comedy sequel are in development, the movie is yet unannounced.
Given the poor box office performance of the film, it is doubtful if a sequel would be approved. Still, the movie's popularity on streaming might be sufficient to approve a follow-up. Fans may have to wait a little bit longer with Argylle 2 released.
