WWE 'Last Monster Standing' Match Criticized: Is WWE Losing Its Edge?

WWE fans are always hyped when there are two incredible giants going head-to-head and a big feud, it always ends with a clash of titans, but one legendary wrestling star just said how a recent event in WWE wasn't as fulfilling. We're talking "Last Monster Standing".

A Wild Feud Ends With Disappointment:

Fans of WWE are always on the lookout for epic matches. Recently we witnessed a powerful feud, full of crazy, over-the-top brawls in arenas from the biggest wrestling federation.

Two legendary competitors "Big" Bronson Reed and Braun Strowman fought tooth and nail in arenas across WWE!

Fans had waited a long time! But now we get a Last Monster Standing matchup. Everyone tuned in for that! Monday Night Raw gave it all in a match that got plenty of eyes glued to the screen.

It turns out though that one WWE legend didn't feel the hype, so what went wrong?

Bully Ray's Criticisms of Last Monster Standing:

Bully Ray is someone you might remember in WWE or as Bubba Ray Dudley from the Dudley Boyz!

  • Bubba Ray Dudley was part of one of the biggest and wildest tag teams to ever make a splash in WWE and the legendary, memorable wrestler is part of WWE's Hall of Fame.

As an iconic wrestling star, his perspective is certainly one that brings something new! He had a unique take on WWE's Last Monster Standing.

You'll also hear him as Bully Ray when he’s joined by the equally iconic Dave LaGreca for the great podcast show "Busted Open!"!

In their chat, Bubba Ray let the world know how Last Monster Standing went down. His view really makes you think about how important creativity is!

  • The overall event left him feeling a bit disappointed.
  • This big match wasn't what he wanted it to be. The energy of this match was missing the elements he loved!

Bubba Ray did go on to mention a great point though that both Bronson and Braun truly put a ton of effort into this event. So, this all was from the WWE side and it looks like he has some ideas to help spice things up!.

Lack of Fresh Ideas:

Bubba Ray Dudley, is an experienced star and this kind of a match was a classic event that made a lasting impression back in 1998, but his memories are fresh! It was the matchup of Taz versus Bam Bam Bigelow in ECW. Even more important to Bully Ray, was that ECW put on these awesome matches with incredible intensity. Bubba Ray explained that the way things had gone for "Last Monster Standing" really brought him back to the "ECW era and how special those matches felt, because these were a bit over the top! WWE is full of super powerful, athletic superstars!

In "Last Monster Standing, he wanted a truly new perspective and saw the repetition, especially when Braun Strowman was slammed and it created a whole ring collapse that, the audience had seen numerous times over the years.

But he got into more detail and you will really understand why some fans feel this way!

  • The super, intense event for "Last Monster Standing" happened with Brock Lesnar, Big Show, and then Braun Strowman himself in various WWE shows! Bully Ray brought a fresh perspective by calling it "no big deal whatsoever"! It wasn't a showstopping event! This big ring breaking stunt wasn't special!

But if you watch WWE regularly, then you might know it! It seems that wrestling is meant for new generations, as Bubba Ray mentioned, who may not have had the same opportunity to watch! It’s still a new thing, and you can see the differences! What makes a classic so cool is that they last the test of time and these were events that everyone has grown up on!

A Critical Role For The Referee

You know what else was interesting, right?

Bully Ray pointed out, one of the major criticisms! As a real-world event! Why was the referee "Chad Patton" in "Last Monster Standing? As fans know! The referees in WWE, they are the center of events to protect those wrestlers! To really understand it is the job of a ref, but there were times when Patton just didn't make sense to Bully Ray.

Bully Ray often looks at other WWE rivals, the AEW. And he made a few critiques around their referee actions as well, as Patton didn't call the right moves in "Last Monster Standing".

In a wild, dramatic moment the ref just let this fight go on despite the action. For those that really are dedicated to watching this game. It's all about understanding the real world, in "Last Monster Standing, it was clear to the star that something more serious should have happened as a moment in this game. You get to see all the chaotic, exciting energy of "WWE"! There were times when it went overboard in ways that no one really was asking for. A critical moment. The ref leaves to handle the issues. Bubba Ray Dudley was critical in his assessment and it seems like this was really one of the bigger blunders for this recent event.

Last Monster Standing Has Moments

We all like those classic matchups but for Bubba Ray, the events were uninspired, he made an amazing point! You just can't always expect the same excitement, but at the end of the day these were still giants beating up one another! Even in a 15-minute match, that had many impressive and epic moments that make wrestling exciting, like a crazy brawl, a ton of wild wrestling moments, and two large competitors! What made it even more intense, though? This unexpected moment when Seth Rollins! Rollins shocked everyone as Rollins stepped back into action after being taken off the roster as Reed was busy attacking! He appeared in an unexpected moment which re-started this story between the two main rivals.

So what makes it interesting to all those watching the events of WWE? It really does create an interesting narrative about what will be next and where it will lead. "Bully Ray" may have pointed out what was less exciting but the audience loved what happened. It's always going to be different when someone who’s part of WWE's history gives an opinion!

If you've never watched wrestling before, get ready. The storylines keep evolving and you will discover so many amazing moments in WWE. Even when things go against your expectation. It will keep audiences entertained,

You'll continue to enjoy this WWE series, and see what the future has in store! If you like a good clash of personalities, you won't want to miss the next "WWE" show.
