For the Super Mario Bros. Movie 2, Yoshi's voice presents a great challenge.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie made some liberties in Character Voices, but it was quite successful in translating all kinds of game components to the big screen. This was clearly assured to be a departure from the games; this is a full-length animated film with video game characters who don't usually talk. As a result, several developed personalities that deviated somewhat from my expectations. One such is Donkey Kong, who exuded grandeur—a quality not usually connected with the hero.
I know that for the same reason Yoshi could wind up receiving a comparable treatment. His constant portrayal in the games makes me view him as a nice-natured, kind Dinosaur free of any defects. Unlike how it handled Mario, Donkey Kong, Princess Peach, and the others, if The Super Mario Bros. Movie decides to make him a major Character it might decide to develop him beyond that. I hope this doesn't cause Yoshi to lose the qualities of his character that make him so charming.
Only Say His Only Name In The Super Mario Bros. Movie 2
The movie's post-credits scene hinted to the perfect manner for Yoshi to be presented. He was audible saying his name as the egg cracked. Yoshi says only this word in the games. Based on how the Marvel Cinematic Universe was able to portray different emotions for Groot with his now-famous "I am Groot" line, The Super Mario Bros. Movie 2 can make Yoshi a standout character without following the same road its predecessor traveled with Mario, and Donkey Kong, and the others.
Though there was one area where it deviated—character voices—the Super Mario Bros. Movie was quite successful in translating many kinds of game components to the big screen. This was clearly assured to be a departure from the games; this is a full-length animated film with video game characters who don't usually talk. As a result, several developed personalities that deviated somewhat from my expectations. Donkey Kong, for example, comes out as ostentatious—a quality not usually connected with the hero. I hope this doesn't cause Yoshi to lose the qualities that make him so lovable.
Yoshi's Part in the Second Super Mario Bros. Movie
Although I had great fun watching The Super Mario Bros. Movie, its portrayal of several characters made me rather worried for the Yoshi's future. Based on the post-credits scene in The Super Mario Bros. Movie, I believe Yoshi will be on hand for the sequel even if Mario left him out of his battle against Bowser. And as Yoshi is the most often used teaser for The Super Mario Bros. Movie 2, he most likely will play a major part.
Yoshi is more than worthy of a huge part in the future film since he is the protagonist of Mario's own spinoff series and a main character in his games. Regarding his involvement, I believe Mario will hatch him from his egg, therefore opening the path for a game-accurate team-up whereby Mario rides the friendly green dinosaur past iconic Super Mario adversaries and challenges. Though I'm thrilled to see what's ahead for Yoshi, one of my favorite Nintendo characters, after seeing The Super Mario Bros. Movie I realize I might not like how he's handled.
In Super Mario Bros. Movie 2 will Yoshi speak?
The Super Mario Bros. Movie was quite successful in translating many of the game's components to the big screen, but it took some license with character voices. This was clearly assured to be a departure from the games; this is a full-length animated film with Video Game characters who don't usually talk. As a result, several developed personalities that deviated somewhat from my expectations. One such is Donkey Kong, who exuded grandeur—a quality not usually connected with the hero.

Unlike how it handled Mario, Donkey Kong, Princess Peach, and the others, if The Super Mario Bros. Movie decides to make him a major character it might decide to develop him beyond that. This should not cause Yoshi to lose the qualities that define him and make him so appealing.
