Why never was a movie released for Channing Tatum's Gambit?
2014 saw Channing Tatum cast as Gambit for a Fox film, however the film never went into production. Fox intended to create a Gambit spinoff but it never materialized via numerous directors. It appears as though everything collapsed when Disney bought Fox and took over the X-Men films. Saying he truly wanted to create the film and that the tone of what he and Fox had in mind differed from what Marvel wanted to do, Tatum himself was rather disappointed about it. Basically, then, it simply wasn't meant to be.

Gambit didn't get his own film, but Tatum at last got to play him in Deadpool & Wolverine. He even gets to don the iconic Gambit attire, speak in a Cajun accent, and toss some cards. Though it was only a cameo, it's very fantastic that he at last got to play Gambit on film. The film paid great respect to the character that viewers were yearning to see on the big screen, which was rather awesome.
