Venom: The Last Dance – Is Venom REALLY Dead?! Unpacking That Shocking Twist!
Venom: The Last Dance – The Epic (and Possibly Temporary) Death of Venom!
Venom: The Last Dance, the supposedly final chapter in Sony's Venom trilogy, starring the amazing Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock and the voice of Venom, just dropped and has caused a storm among fans. It concludes Brock and Venom’s adventures—Tom Hardy himself even stated this – and throws a seriously huge wrench into all the hype surrounding this movie. What’s it all mean, you ask? Let's unpack that epic finale and especially discuss what just happened to our beloved symbiote. We all need to discuss the big, big twist of Venom’s demise! This is totally full of spoilers!
Even the marketing hyped up a death– Hardy's Venom is the beloved character from the entire Sony Spider-Man Universe and this was definitely supposed to impact everything; even making it one of those intense, heart-wrenching events for audiences worldwide! But Kelly Marcel (writer-director) teased a continuation of those storylines during the New York Comic Con. She hinted at other symbiote stories. So maybe this isn't really the true end. Still, that’s not exactly what happened. That big reveal involved a total sacrifice.
Venom’s Sacrifice: Saving Eddie (and Earth!) From Knull's Wrath
The battle with Knull's Xenophages (that army of interdimensional beings intent on getting that Codex) was intense. With Earth on the line, Venom makes an impossible decision – self-sacrifice. Venom explodes himself and takes out a massive number of these nasty monsters while destroying the Codex (the thing needed for Knull's prison) completely! This isn’t some minor character death, folks! This creates that incredibly epic impact which helped elevate those stakes! It creates an even more emotional payoff considering this final battle. It shifts the plot direction completely: saving Eddie and Earth from immediate destruction.
However, the very same events leave other things unresolved and completely unresolved— Knull is alive, awakened in a post-credits stinger which introduces plenty of other plot lines and potential directions to develop. This highlights how massive a threat Knull remains! Yet, the short-term problem— the immediate invasion–was stopped.
Is It Really Over? Why Venom Might Return
This seemingly major ending to this particular storyline may not be over. Remember, many storylines involving symbiotes remain to be resolved! Some clues already strongly suggest an existence separate from this very singular ending: parts of the Venom symbiote exist elsewhere in this very massive and vast multiverse which could still easily lead toward other opportunities; these other opportunities may easily impact many storylines in an unexpected and highly intriguing fashion. Some aspects of Venom remain outside this story!
- The part left in the MCU (in Spider-Man: No Way Home's post-credits scene).
- Rex Strickland collected another piece back home!
Those remnants could spawn other symbiotes or even revive Venom. The comics offer another alternative—Venom bonds with many others. It could realistically show Peter Parker, Anne Weying, Deadpool, Flash Thompson, and even Dylan Brock (Eddie’s son)!
Conclusion: Venom’s Legacy Lives On (Maybe Literally!)
That Venom death was insanely intense. It completely concludes Tom Hardy's Marvel trilogy, concluding a storyline after years of intense build-up. The intensity was key in developing the ending, elevating the final encounter to an emotionally devastating climax that really left its viewers craving that necessary catharsis; yet some hope still exists that the symbiote will eventually be back, making that particular death merely a turning point, rather than an ending point. Sony's plans for their Spider-Man Universe after Kraven the Hunter are yet to be seen; however it should be fairly clear at this point and likely involves these other symbiote plots. Let’s hope for additional news after all that hype has passed, giving us details.
