Rising's Post-Credits Scene Explained: Where Is Ken's Mother Found
Rising's post-credits scene had Ken getting a transmission on his watch. His mother Emiko Sato sent a taped message declaring her alive. Although Ultraman: Rising never claimed that Ken's mother was deceased, her family concluded such after she vanished without leaving any sign for years. Ken was shocked to get her communication since he already felt his mother would never ever come back. Emiko spoke from Nebula M78, not from Earth. Mother of the current Ultraman and former Ultraman's wife sought assistance in returning.
Originally starting with Ultra Q in 1966, the Ultra series Those familiar with Ultraman will know Nebula M78 as the home planet most Ultras in the original universe of the franchise live on. Nebula M78, a site mentioned several times throughout the Ultraman series, has in fact several universes. Which M78 planet Ken's mother is from is unknown. Furthermore unknown is her off-planet behavior and motivation. The original Ultraman in this universe, Ken's father, never seemed to have suspected that his wife was still alive and residing three million light-years from home.
Why did Dr. Onda destroy himself toward the end of Ultraman: Rising?
Ultraman: Rising mostly featured Dr. Onda, leader of the Kaiju Defense Force, as villain. Though the character is not much known, the film makes it abundantly evident that Dr. Onda lost his wife and daughter during a kaiju attack. The incident that cost Dr. Onda his family occurred during Professor Sato's time as Ultraman, so the KDF leader felt great animosity against the retiring superhero and his replacement. Using the sonar finding skills of the young kaiju, Dr. Onda intended to find Kaiju Island.
Originally, Dr. Onda and the KDF responded just to Kaiju strikes on Japan. Stated differently, they were countrymen defending rather than kaiju hunters. But since he lost his family, Dr. Onda developed fixation on permanently eradicating the kaiju danger. Whether it would be challenging, he wanted to invade Kaiju Island and wipe all of them. Dr. Onda conceded his loss after failing to overcome the two Ultramen and turned on his mecha's self-destruction mode to destroy the heroes and their kaiju allies. Ken's Ultraman shield thankfully saved everyone.
How Emi's Kaiju Mother Made Comeback in Ultraman: Rising
Dr. Onda used cybernetic technology to revive Gigantron so he could fool Emi. He produced a Mecha-Gigantron integrating robotic elements with portions of the original Gigantron. Mecha-Gigantron was first simply a zombie form of Emi's mother and lacked memory of the original kaiju. Still, it was enough to fool the infant kaiju into following what she thought to be her mother. This resulted in a conflict between Ultraman and Mecha-Gigantron, among the finest films Netflix has ever produced. Ultraman knew Gigantron was still there somewhere throughout the battle.
Rising begins with Ken Sato elucidating that not all kaiju are wicked monsters, which pays off in the end with the return of Gigantron. At the start of the movie, the creature was merely trying to guard her kid, but the KDF was hunting her down. Ultraman stopped attacking Emi's mother as soon as he found she could still be brought back. Eventually Gigantron took back control of her body and assisted the two Ultramen in shielding Emi from Dr. Onda. Together Ultraman Senior, Ultraman, Mecha-Gigantron, and Emi's energy beams defeated Dr. Onda.
Where Ultraman Was Taking Emi Towards Movie's End
Rising finishes with Ken bringing Emi to Kaiju Island beside Gigantron so the infant kaiju and her mother may live in peace. Driven to eradicate all kaiju before they could ever reach Japan or other nations, this is the island Dr. Onda was looking for. Luckily, Emi will be living on Kaiju Island with her mother; the KDF still does not know where it is. Ken will not have to say goodbye to Emi as, as Ultraman, he would be able to visit Kaiju Island whenever he so wishes.
There are many chances for a possible sequel right at this ending. According to the post-credits sequence, Ken's mother would be in a lot of difficulty and might need his Ultraman powers' assistance. It's also a terrific approach to introduce other Ultraman universe characters and sites. A future sequel might see Ken visit Nebula M78 to meet more Ultras and face fresh challenges from the Land of Light, a location sometimes referred to as a utopia for Ultras but which has been visited by other kaiju. The opportunities really are quite unlimited.
The Meaning of Ultraman Rising's Ending
Although Netflix's Ultraman film had several kaiju and dramatic confrontations, its message was about familyhood and responsibility. Ken felt bitter against his father since the former Ultraman sacrificed more time with monsters than with his family—a sacrifice the current Ultraman only knew many years later. Though Ken had been Ultraman for some time, he still had to discover what responsibility meant. Ken had to step in to assist Emi and save the day once a newborn kaiju entered his life as he could no longer flee his troubles.
Ken spent a few days becoming a father to help him to appreciate the sacrifices his parents had to make. Ken finally could concentrate on his baseball career by organizing his personal and superhero life. After his fight against Dr. Onda, Ken was injured for the rest of the season, but he motivated his squad to take home the championship. Ken has never before held a crown in baseball. Ken spent a few days becoming a father to help him to appreciate the sacrifices his parents had to make. Ken, the son of Ultraman, was never going to have a regular upbringing anyway, but happily he is now in good relations with his dad.
How Ultraman: Rising sets up a sequel?
Rising's post-credits scene is a big sequel hook that sets up Ultraman: Rising 2, where Ken would probably search off-world for his mother and bring her back. Usually the last frontier for Tokusatsu programs like Ultraman, space makes logical for the sequel to occur outside of Earth. This would let the sequel have lots of different heroes and villains, including other Ultras from the Land of the Light. Having stated this, as of the time this article was written Ultraman: Rising 2 is not confirmed.
Rising is an action-adventure movie marking a fresh Ultraman franchise release. Under Shinji Higuchi's direction, this picture returns to the series foundations and centered on a fresh hero, Ken Sato, who takes on the Ultraman mantle to save Earth from terrible perils.
Although not every Super Sentai show has been turned into Power Rangers, all Power Rangers seasons have drawn from the venerable Tokusatsu series. Among the biggest Tokusatsu franchises ever, the Ultraman series has produced numerous television shows, films, and video games.
