Top Gun 3: Can Maverick Learn from a Ghost?
Let's talk about Top Gun: Maverick. We all loved it, right? But it did something kinda sad: it killed off Iceman, Maverick's best friend and the coolest pilot ever. So, how does Top Gun 3 tell their story now? It's tricky, but there's a way to make it work!
Remember how the original Top Gun ended? It felt like Maverick and Iceman were going to learn from each other, kind of becoming better versions of themselves. Maverick was all hot-headed, but amazing in the air. Iceman was a stick-in-the-mud, but knew the rules. It would have been awesome to see how they impacted each other.
But Top Gun: Maverick messed that up a bit. It showed Maverick as a rebel, while Iceman was still the uptight authority figure. They were great friends, but didn't really learn from each other.
And Iceman's death? That's a big bummer! It means Top Gun 3 can't really explore that "learning from each other" thing. Maverick needed to see Iceman's perspective, but that's gone.
However, there's still hope! In Top Gun: Maverick, Iceman had a really awesome cameo where he helped Maverick figure out how to deal with Rooster, his son. So, Top Gun 3 could show that Iceman left behind some lessons that can help Maverick grow as a teacher.
Think about it: Iceman wanted Maverick to teach the new generation of pilots. He knew Maverick wasn't super confident with that, but Iceman might have left some kind of guide or advice for Maverick. Maybe even a video recording or something! It would be a cool way to have Iceman's spirit guide Maverick.
It might sound weird, but it could work! Maverick could learn from Iceman even though he's gone. That would be a really moving way to honor Iceman and his friendship with Maverick. Plus, it'd give Maverick some cool new skills. What could be better?
