It turns out, the trial scene did a wonderful job in creating more information and details to how his mother played her role, including how much she didn't want him to understand who he really was. While this took the world into a deeper rabbit hole, "The Joker," made some things more evident about what his mom's legacy had been to the entire Film.

In the process revealed an interesting perspective!

What he really made clear was she kept her horrific actions secret so "Arthur" wouldn't ever find out just how despicable she truly was and why the world may have felt like it turned its back on him.

But, to add to the dark, crazy part of the plot, there were multiple instances, as revealed in "Joker: FoLie à Deux" and it was during his trial for murdering multiple individuals in the original film! There's just so much that was left to viewers' imaginations and the movie's end wasn't a nice moment for the character and everyone involved!
