A new Star Wars movie is in the works titled “The Mandalorian and Grogu,” and this film replaces the planned The Mandalorian season 4. The Mandalorian story will continue in this film, set for a release date of May 2026.

The upcoming movie brings back Din Djarin and his adopted son, Grogu. The film has been filmed since August 2024. The footage unveiled at D23 offered a sneak peek at The Mandalorian facing off against AT-ATs as well as the return of familiar characters from "Star Wars Rebels."
Razor Crest Returns
A frustrating trend in the The Mandalorian TV series has been the frequent reversal of important story moments and character developments. The movie continues this pattern with the return of the Razor Crest. Fans will recall the Razor Crest being destroyed in Season 2. This event felt emotional and significant. While the film offers a plausible explanation, stating that the ship-builders on Nevarro rebuilt the ship for Din Djarin, it undermines the emotional weight of the ship's destruction.
Reversals in The Mandalorian
Several key moments in "The Mandalorian" were reverted later in the series, which can be frustrating for viewers. The Razor Crest's destruction, the sacrifice of IG-11 in Season 1 and Din Djarin’s gaining of the Darksaber in Season 2 were all reversed later.
