Terrifier 3 Ending Explained: Jonathan Shaw's Fate & Terrifier 4?

The Terrifier franchise is known for its over-the-top gore and terrifying moments! But even for a series with a reputation for being gruesome, Terrifier 3 has taken things to a whole new level. Get ready for an insane ride that takes these characters to Hell!

Jonathan's Death

This particular installment gave fans something unexpected and maybe, a bit relieving. A major character from this horror film franchise, Jonathan Shaw (played by Elliott Fullam), dies but doesn't actually get the same amount of screen time as those previous victims. Jonathan and Sienna try their best to avoid Art the Clown (the terrifying villain who is super powerful!), but the Art the Clown isn't easily dismissed.

After finding out Art has reappeared they try to meet each other! They even bring Jonathan's uncle to take Jonathan. But it was all a set-up by Vicky, Art's terrifying sidekick!

  • The two evil characters show up at the house!
  • They capture Sienna and kill her uncle.
  • The pair capture Sienna's aunt, and show a gory sight: a skinned head, implying Jonathan's death, suggesting that the evil duo was able to track the siblings down even before they could make it back home.

The death of Jonathan, is really huge for Sienna, as it isolates her, making Sienna incredibly vulnerable. While it’s shown in a terrifying and somewhat obscured manner. What made Jonathan's passing so emotional is what Jonathan meant to Sienna. As it turns out Jonathan played a truly important part in helping Sienna cope with her horrific experience in Terrifier 2! And he was the only real friend that was around for her.

It leaves the audience in an emotional situation as we can see her grief through her interactions, and we feel just how much Sienna and Jonathan's lives changed as a result of being impacted by Art's awful attacks five years prior. What is also shown to make a major impact for Sienna and the Terrifier universe, is the fact that Vicky becomes more powerful.

When you take that all into account it appears that it's not only just Jonathan who might be hiding or captured. While what is seen, certainly hints that he may not be around anymore! This shows there is another, mysterious person, one with similar trauma that Sienna will face in later episodes!

Fans that watched Terrifier 3 are likely wondering and have hopes Jonathan makes his return. After watching it all and the gory images from this terrifying slasher series. Sienna appears to be able to escape and revive herself from Art’s horrific world, she sets out on another quest, one of hope to get Gabbie out of what is hinted to be Hell itself!

It appears this brings a possible path for Jonathan. If she finds Gabbie then perhaps, Jonathan might be next and able to reunite.

What makes this whole possibility so interesting is Jonathan also may just have been captured but survived and may have his chance to shine! Either way, it certainly shows there's more horror and interesting elements of this universe that is being further explored and what will await audiences is likely to continue this scary adventure.
