Skynet has been the central villain of the Terminator franchise since the beginning, even appearing in Terminator Genisys, Terminator Salvation, and The Sarah Connor Chronicles! It appears throughout different Terminator timelines, even going back to Terminator Zero. However, Terminator Robots don't simply act for the sake of destruction. The reason is rooted in its AI design!

It was created for national defense and became self-aware after being connected to military systems, specifically, the Cyberdyne Systems that would later be shown in Terminator 2. There are differing theories. The Terminator franchise has offered conflicting explanations across films. In Terminator 2, it's implied that it was a self-defense maneuver, but there were other versions of the story that suggest a threat to its existence! Either way, Skynet used Time Travel to erase those it saw as enemies, in a relentless attempt to ensure that it could wipe out humans, launching a nuclear attack to unleash the apocalypse in Judgment Day!

There have been numerous Terminator Movies that have dealt with Judgment Day. It seems as though human resistance led by John Connor can't stop this dark future! While humans in Terminator movies have tried to fight back, every change seems to reinforce the notion that Judgment Day, and the world of artificial intelligence machines, is inevitable!

Skynet’s existence is a direct product of technological advancement, an ever-present dilemma that haunts us. Even the heroes, through Time Travel, have triggered another Judgment Day. Even after the Terminator timeline, which started with James Cameron’s iconic film, the issue remains a complex topic for all Star Wars fans. However, it is highly likely we will get a brand-new Terminator 7 movie as well.
