These insights focused on a few perspectives in regards to how she interacted with her family during periods of change such as when Lisa Marie Presley , married Michael Jackson. The details of this dynamic gave more insights into Riley as a person while also understanding who her Family was.
Prior to her mom’s marriage to Michael Jackson , she was with Riley's dad Danny Keough. Riley states that was simple before the new attention with her mom as they lived very much away from the public’s gaze. She goes on to note they didn’t have the many assistants that later entered their world, they didn't require the larger scale presence which seemed to be normal for Lisa.
Riley discussed what her world was like with her mom's marriage to Michael Jackson stating that the world "got bigger" with a shift into the many different lifestyle dynamics the Jackson empire carried. She mentions her and her late brother often had things shut down in places like stores and private functions which was only done to create a more calm environment. There were many things that were changed due to Jackson's fame and not due to wanting extra attention on her as a child.
Many things became different such as the Family needing planes and a much larger form of person nel. This contrasted their life with their father Danny. She said that those things all took away from any chance for a "normal" everyday experience but were put in place for their protection from chaos and intense public scrutiny.
Riley openly admitted her unawareness of allegations made towards Jackson. Her honesty on her lack of knowledge as a child speaks to her parents dedication in not exposing them to issues like those while keeping the focus on them being well-adjusted children in a chaotic world.
While admitting her ignorance as a child she states she imagines the pain her dad experienced and what her mom may have had to endure. She recalls her parents did not fight in front of their children or say things that were too complex which is how they chose to address any negativity which surrounded them all.
Riley spoke of the affection her mother and Jackson shared emphasizing what she personally saw was a genuine love between the two. Her view comes from the time she spent near to the couple in their lives at that time in history as it is what she remembers in its simplest form.
Lisa Marie’s own writings described Michael as being "kind and loving” she added there was a feeling of "normality" when with him. She had also previously stated that they were both in love at the time. The Memoir shares those positive thoughts that came directly from those interactions which allows for multiple opinions in each perspective.
The two also worked together when Riley had decided to help finish her mom’s posthumous Memoir. In this her dedication for her family comes through her personal connection with this very specific project as she dedicated a significant amount of effort into completing a project that had meaning for her, as well as her mother. Her effort to make her family’s narrative known shows how important family bonds were for her and continues to be important for all.
