Ready Or Not 2: Melissa Barrera's Abigail Needs to be Part of the Sequel!
Ready or Not 2: The Sequel That Must Make Good on a Horror Universe
Get ready, horror fans! Ready or Not 2 is officially happening and this upcoming sequel, directed by the amazing horror duo Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett (the minds behind the awesome Scream movies), has a seriously huge opportunity to create something big. Those directors already laid the groundwork for a horror cinematic universe only a few months earlier, so this sequel needs to do it right! They absolutely must bring back Melissa Barrera's character, Abigail, from their 2024 film, which will deliver some much-needed additional content that the recent Ready or Not franchise might really, really need to improve. We'll discuss why bringing Barrera into this sequel might really deliver what many people hope to see and could cement this entire horror universe!
The original Ready or Not (2019) was seriously fun; that Samara Weaving-led thrill ride had you on the edge of your seat as she tries to survive that insane hide-and-seek game with her new husband’s deadly family. That crazy success helped propel Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett into the spotlight (resulting in that amazing Scream reboot series) – this demonstrates just why having high quality stories which focus on themes and events already existing in some niche markets would still bring overall success. It helped those creators gain recognition and trust to tackle even greater tasks such as the Scream series.
The Abigail Connection: A Vampire Crossover Calling!
Ready or Not isn’t their latest film! They've got Abigail (2024), a totally fun vampire heist flick. Guess what? There is a killer Easter egg that suggests something big. You’ve got this amazing detail, hinting towards a crossover! This could be awesome and fans would recognize this cameo that directly references Ready or Not; This includes that clever detail—a painting featuring an ancestor from the Le Domas family! That suggests Abigail's story fits directly into Ready or Not’s lore, especially given the possibility of a continuation. That sneaky addition from Radio Silence made a surprisingly fun and subtle addition that cleverly brings several plot elements together to deliver a stronger, more interconnected cinematic universe, making the earlier 2019 success gain added value after such a creative development!
Sadly, Abigail wasn’t that successful at the box office. Yet it did contain one awesome and powerful theme. Its possible continuation means something: that possible appearance with Barrera's character, who totally survives and continues her storyline could totally be something to look forward to— this is very, very crucial given what fans expect from horror and what could've easily not appeared had some specific creative choices not been undertaken. And now? It looks possible.
Why Ready or Not 2 NEEDS Melissa Barrera
Barrera was killer in Abigail. It would totally be a mistake to just let that awesome character fade away! Ready or Not 2 has the perfect setup! This sequel offers this once-impossible connection for both those franchises, a new direction for Ready or Not (allowing Barrera to join Samara Weaving) to become something completely unique; demonstrating the creative brilliance and opportunities for further crossovers.
And guess what? They could continue their existing relationship with Barrera. She's been in three of their movies: Scream, Scream VI, and Abigail. They’re NOT involved in Scream VII! A potential for a very obvious collaborative move. And Ready or Not 2 seems to be exactly where they'd choose next!
How This Crossover Could Actually Work!
There are plenty of ways to bring these things together. Ready or Not and Abigail share a similar tone. Both stories end with the female protagonist surviving a crazy night inside the location's building that involved incredible violence; both those endings ended similarly, making an immediate and natural crossover connection for a far greater thematic point and storyline: Those female protagonists escape a terrifying building full of unimaginable danger which resulted in escaping various threats. This kind of similar experience and trauma provides an obvious intersection and hook; easily providing another reason for a potentially significant connection for a shared narrative!
We can see Weaving's Grace learning about Barrera's Abigail, leading them into some intense action—those themes could build around these female leads; it's going to explore their interactions with existing Le Domas family, and that crazy family is going to continue having their supernatural issues in some unexpected ways; The crossover involves insane killer in-laws, vampires—that sounds intensely exciting, and with multiple plot points involved and unresolved, a completely new approach, using the pre-existing storyline from those past films is extremely probable and an entirely necessary path that needs development.
Conclusion: A Horror Crossover With Major Potential!
Ready or Not 2 could easily be a smash hit! The potential for these unexpected and creative opportunities, which cleverly utilize elements from other previous movies to enhance this production creates those key opportunities which only certain kinds of film productions would normally have, those opportunities which allow further cross-overs. If those involved utilize those creative talents; including developing plot aspects in which we can witness those pre-existing character connections we can experience in other productions. These details create huge possibilities that would make Ready or Not 2 into something even more epic than many were initially expecting! And including Melissa Barrera (and Abigail!) would be brilliant!
