Prometheus: Did Alien Prequel Go Too Far? | Sci-Fi Movie Review

Fans of the Alien franchise and science fiction are familiar with Prometheus. A wild, innovative movie from director Ridley Scott who had major success from the original Alien movie.

The Controversial Release

In the 2010s, Prometheus arrived in theaters! It gave a new view to Alien's fascinating story, taking a journey to explore the roots of humanity's story in space. A trip that even explores what our place in this grand universe might be, too. It's set a whopping 30 years before the original film from 1979. Prometheus takes viewers into this world. Fans were captivated as they watched what would become a source of fear as a race called xenomorphs are slowly born. But fans may not know that even though the film made a super massive $403,354,469 worldwide. Audiences had a real mix of responses with a 73% Rotten Tomatoes critic score. Audiences themselves even had a 68% rating, making it a true classic, but maybe not as beloved by everyone!

Prometheus And Alien Origins

Prometheus received some massive love, with the cast, that gave everyone a memorable performance!

Prometheus was filled with all the exciting space themes and a thrilling story of those first space missions that got humanity exploring.
The star, Michael Fassbender as the android who is a little dark and a bit haunting.
It was an intriguing tale that even though it was a huge success in the world of films, but some fans had issues! The issues surrounded Alien's universe.

It appears, as it turned out, that these films did give a lot more explanations about the story of humanity as it really became a bit too upfront about these xenomorphs. This could have been so powerful, mysterious and exciting. But it made sense to go back into the past and find an answer! It didn't seem to help!

A Standalone Film

Prometheus wasn't a terrible movie but maybe it shouldn't have been a Alien movie. With the terrifying, monstrous creatures in this story, these Xenomorphs really made a mark! Even in those special effects the creators made some incredible creations. Even H.R. Giger would probably be super happy.

Even the Alien universe had some pretty interesting visuals. However, Prometheus seemed more interested in telling an entirely different story.

It changed what viewers saw in the series and, there was even this new world it was trying to bring about.
It has a very powerful, compelling concept that's about what humans are trying to do and how it plays out with the vast unknown that is the universe!

There really might have been a whole different route this story could have taken.

Maybe fans would have loved this even more! And if it weren't trying to force itself into the Alien storyline, then perhaps it would have made such a stronger impact on a wider audience.

A Universe Full Of Potential

The concept was amazing in Prometheus and for any fans out there, it's always fun to hear about how creators craft those intricate storylines. The movie tells the history about this super advanced, and fascinating race: the Engineers

It looked to tell a deeper story, especially that the Engineers were behind all the lifeforms on earth and this was where humans came from! And of course! Humans make mistakes, this includes being greedy and self-centered! This inspired a big plot that looked to eliminate humans as they were making so many errors.

This idea is crazy! It gave a lot of thought and consideration, it's even brought out the origins of these xenomorphs who were designed as super weapons to wipe out those in the universe.

If you take the xenomorphs away! It appears there might be another story! The real heart of the Prometheus story

It appears Alien: Engineers. But now you get a brand-new look. One that isn't focused on these super vicious creatures, that fans are afraid of! It was this type of storyline that took so many twists and turns!

It brought everyone, with some powerful thoughts! But the xenomorphs are scary and intriguing because we have very few answers and it brought back so many memorable moments, creating a powerful set of horror Movies!

An Alternative Approach For The Story

So, it was one movie with multiple intricate ideas, some that could have been incredible but they had a special connection that didn't allow Prometheus to thrive! Fans would have given this an open mind! But it didn't really work out to their best! It would have taken the whole concept of the Alien universe to create this whole new sci-fi epic!

In all these films they don't really use so many Alien elements! If this were all removed. Prometheus
It might have been a completely original storyline, something new. There would have been more buzz.
If they weren't as obsessed with linking the storyline to the past history of the Alien franchise!

There really are lots of fantastic, wild, and awe inspiring moments in this movie and even though there are criticisms for Prometheus it could have made a great deal more! The world of Hollywood always goes to familiar content but Prometheus really had some of those elements to take it to a new world!
