By only a one word modification to the title of a movie, Planet of the Apes art has transformed Caesar's story of survival and epic adventure into a ridiculous idea.
Though their premise regarding the titular apes has varied, the Planet of the Apes films have followed the same continuity since 2011's Rise of the Planet of the Apes. This has made Caesar, the franchise's iconic character, a classic part of it trying his hardest to defend his group of apes from human dangers across his trilogy.
Now, utilizing the AI technology to make art that transforms Caesar's story into a ridiculous premise with just one extra word, Fadawah has uploaded a set of photos to the r/midjourney subreddit Titled "War for the Planet of the Relaxing Apes," the post plays on 2017's War for the Planet of the Apes, a grim film documenting Caesar's attempts at guiding his tribe to a safe refuge. The pictures above, on the other hand, show the apes lounging on pool floats sporting military uniform. This ridiculous idea is quite different from the gravity of the film series.
Could a sitcom based on Planet of the Apes succeed?
From its several runs, the post-apocalyptic, sci-fi franchise has always taken its stories seriously, addressing environmentalism and discrimination. Based on the finale of Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, which sets the tone for a more somber, vast narrative to come, this pattern is destined to continue. The franchise does not, however, also lack humorous events; War's Bad Ape gives the film's darker tone plenty of lightheartedness.
A humorous rendition of Planet of the Apes would probably have to concentrate on a smaller idea and set of people rather than world-altering events. The optimum spot to set a Comedy would be around the period Kingdom is set in as it won't fully address the problem of mankind having fallen. Rather, a humorous rendition of the narrative might follow a lighthearted adventure akin to what Noa and his buddies were doing at the beginning of the most recent movie—stealing eagle eggs.
Hulu streams Caesar's Planet of the Apes trilogy. Theaterhouse Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is showing.
Beginning in 1963 with Pierre Boulle's book, which was subsequently film-adapted in 1968 starring Charlton Heston, Planet of the Apes is a multimedia sci-fi series. Four further films, two TV episodes, a Tim Burton remake, and a reboot trilogy followed from the movie's success. Comic comics and video games have also become popular for the Planet of the Apes series.
