Pharrell Williams' new biopic, Piece by Piece (directed by Morgan Neville), is a total hit! Earning an 81% on Rotten Tomatoes and an even better 91% audience score – not to mention a strong 5th place box office debut, this animated LEGO movie chronicles Pharrell's amazing life! We get to see glimpses into that rise to fame; from that early work within the hugely influential Neptunes to collaborations with Kendrick Lamar, Justin Timberlake, and Gwen Stefani – plus so many more amazing, noteworthy interactions!

However, amidst the celebration, this movie highlights that very important fact. One key question remains in everyone's minds: What happened to Chad Hugo; his creative partner; and those key early creative efforts within The Neptunes, an incredibly prolific musical partnership; along with his co-founding and participation within N.E.R.D.? What really happened? How did those things eventually fall apart; and does this documentary hint toward a reconciliation; or just more issues?

Chad Hugo gets featured in Piece by Piece. And you know he had this massive success with Pharrell within The Neptunes and N.E.R.D.. Their 2001 co-founded record label, Star Trak Entertainment had some insane output; it resulted in hugely successful songs from those iconic musicians in the 2000s, such as Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake. (They even won Grammys for producing Timberlake's debut album Justified!) It demonstrates an unbelievably successful trajectory for anyone to witness; such an intense level of musical production never slowed!

That's more than those collaborative efforts in the Movies, shows how versatile and talented he really is; a very prolific career generating his own songs, as well as his producing efforts throughout other musical works. In 2020, both Hugo and Pharrell earned Songwriter's Hall of Fame inductions—an epic accomplishment and showcases both artists' unbelievable contributions to that era's musical output. This major honour highlighted just how huge their impacts are. It highlighted Hugo's "profound influence on the shape of hip-hop"— huge! This contrasts greatly with Hugo's lawsuit. It shows those behind-the-scenes fractures; the collapse of this very successful yet volatile relationship despite apparent efforts earlier. This remains hugely unanswered; leaving an incredibly huge impact upon many viewers that are invested within these creative endeavors!
