Ocean's Movies Timeline: Every Heist Movie Ranked (And What Happens Next).

The Order of The Ocean's Film ReleasesYou can view all five of Ocean's films in the sequence that they were released. The original Ocean's 11 brought the iconic story of a Las Vegas casino robbery to the big screen, even though it had little in common with the well-liked Ocean's trilogy of the 2000s. While Ocean's 8 was viewed more as a spinoff than a true sequel or prequel episode, Soderbergh's three films starring Pitt, Damon, and Clooney form the core of the Ocean franchise. It's interesting to note that, even during the successful trilogy run, all five of Ocean's films were written by separate screenwriters.Unlike in the John Wick or Star Wars franchises, the numbers in the titles do not correspond to the series' chronological order. Instead, they show how many characters are involved in each movie's primary robbery. Although it may seem sense to see Ocean's 8, the most recent film in the heist series, before Ocean's 11–13, the right order of precedence is really the exact reverse.

The Ocean's Films in Time Sequence of OccurrenceAlthough it has nothing to do with the reboot from the twenty-first century or its follow-ups, Ocean's 11 from 1960 is technically the first film in the Ocean series. Lewis Milestone directed the 1960 picture, which featured Frank Sinatra as the first Danny Ocean on cinema. Alongside Sinatra, another well-known leading man and singer of the day, Dean Martin, made their acting debuts following their meteoric rise to global acclaim in their respective singing careers.Members of the Rat Pack, a group of entertainers who frequently performed together at several Las Vegas casinos and filmed movies together, made up the original group. Though Soderbergh, Pitt, Clooney, and Damon ran with the concept of the original movie, the 1960 classic was as much a heist movie as it was a glimpse into the friendship and dynamic between Sinatra, Martin, and the renowned Rat Pack.

The Ocean's Future ChronologyEven though there hasn't been a new Ocean's film since Ocean's 8 in 2018, there have been a number of concepts and prospective plans for crossovers, prequels, or sequels that seem likely to keep the franchise going. Of course, Ocean's 9 is the most obvious path. It was once confirmed, but it has since been mired in long-term development. In 2022, Sandra Bullock provided an update on Ocean's 9, stating that production had not yet begun in large part due to schedule conflicts with Awkwafina. Bullock also disclosed that another reason Ocean's 9 hadn't come was that the cast was waiting for the ideal female director and writer to support the movie.
