Nicole Kidman: The Amc Queen Who Hides From Her Own Ads!
Nicole Kidman: mega-star, Oscar winner, and, apparently, a low-key moviegoer who's totally embarrassed by her own super-viral AMC ads! The woman who is arguably the unofficial face of AMC Theaters admits that she sneaks into the cinema and tries to avoid watching those famous ads herself! How’s that for some intense meta? She's a star who loves her Movies; and does her homework on her downtime as an everyday person; adding some surprising details which highlights this unexpected relatability for such an unbelievably huge, universally adored actor! We all know this is true.
This gem comes straight from her recent premiere for Special Ops: Lioness season 2. The actress shared how she unwinds after intense filming– hitting up a Fort Worth, Texas, AMC. When discussing how this was an excellent outlet; the actress adds additional details of her reaction when watching one of those classic, immensely famous AMC Commercials which featured herself prominently; creating one of those amazing iconic commercials:
"I go to an AMC and I sit there and I hide my face when I come on screen," she spilled to Entertainment Tonight. "I even sent the head of Amc, Adam [Aron], a message that the AMC right there in Fort Worth is perfection.”
Someone seriously needs to give this hardworking woman a massive raise. But seriously: Is she CONTRACTUALLY OBLIGATED to only go to AMCs? Seriously, could you imagine the utter scandal if this immensely famous actress were caught at a rival cinema? Just imagine. This kind of potential chaos highlights her level of commitment, to the extent that this makes you kind of seriously think. Does this level of perfection actually exist and is this the highest level achievable? Those additional elements completely transform those expectations, further showing the immense lengths to which someone truly loves their own work!
There is even more great news coming! She basically confirmed that another awesome ad’s in the works. Variety mentioned way back in February that there’d be three new ads the following month— which makes a ton of sense for what we discover now; a possible return! However, that original 2021 ad remains incredibly legendary; one that got spoofed by Saturday Night Live!
During the same Lioness premiere interview (for E! News), Kidman totally teased that sequel with that wonderful “Practical Magic” reference. There are some very great connections to other shows in her own vast repertoire and career and this really sets up some amazingly heartfelt moments that adds additional depth to a otherwise somewhat smaller ad!
"We're in the making,” she said. “I'm using a Practical Magic term: There's things brewing.”
Kidman's ad’s are amazing: It struck a chord with many; the emotion, that campiness made those incredibly popular! It wasn't merely popular with some viewers; many found a deep emotional impact with those powerful messages shown within those few short commercials, that were played only during that beginning section, yet generated immense popularity, to the extent it inspired other similarly themed moments, like that awesome parody featuring Morgan Freeman, after she won her AFI Life Achievement Award!
Kidman, while being immensely popular and famous; even still visits that amc herself. And as mentioned previously she has totally revealed how these ads struck those deeper emotional impacts.
"I’m so glad that they do [love them]," she stated previously to E! News, "because it means that they go to the theater.”
Beyond AMCs, Nicole Kidman's career is totally legendary! From her breakout role in Dead Calm (1989) alongside Sam Neill and Billy Zane; it showcases those initial stages in this immensely famous actress' career and her rapid rise through the industry which would lead to this immense worldwide popularity, even earning this iconic title as “queen” of her current production; creating an iconic image, we’re tracing those high points to that awesome ad:
Nicole Kidman’s AMC ads are seriously more than just Commercials! They struck a chord; becoming hugely memorable; resulting in an absolutely unexpected meta moment; her being somewhat embarrassed by this widespread, incredibly effective success; highlighting another aspect of why it’s such a well-crafted piece of commercial filmmaking; an ad that touched viewers and reinforced her legendary status, even sparking her desire to continue doing this and showing that sometimes those simplest creative methods have the deepest impacts!
