Does Crassus Change His Mind And Become Good?

Hamilton Crassus III (Jon Voight) spends a lot of Megalopolis being critical of Clodio (Giancarlo Esposito), as if Crassus doesn’t think Clodio will become his successful successor and instead has chosen Cesar to succeed him. Crassus seems to do something quite surprising by signing over all of his assets to Cesar - because if Crassus had given Clodio the position as successor - Crassus might not be thought of as such a nice guy! It’s pretty clear - because there are just so many characters in this film, Crassus does this more for his own reputation than out of the goodness of his heart - Crassus, who is very much a greedy guy, seems to change his mind in the very last moments. He’s really trying to make sure that he’s remembered well!

The scene with Crassus showing a Change in character is an interesting addition that really does take viewers on a journey. There’s so much going on, as we watch characters trying to control power and a struggle between their relationships as they deal with the challenges that are in front of them.
