MCU Young Avengers: Ms. Marvel, Hawkeye, & Stature Lead the Charge!

Young Avengers Assemble! The MCU Officially Confirms its First Three Recruits!

The Young Avengers Are Coming: A New Generation of Heroes Rises in the MCU!

Get ready, Marvel fans! After years of speculation and those classic cryptic teases that Marvel seems to be infamous for, the MCU is finally giving us a Young Avengers team! This major reveal, shown in The Marvels, marks the start of something really huge. This announcement finally happens after a long period of waiting – after having countless super-powered teens and kids popping up across different Phase 4 projects (alongside some already well-known characters like Spider-Man, which still remains as its own totally unique storyline that only Tom Holland can handle and portray, obviously).

There were several reasons driving this necessity to change focus, too.   The MCU's expanding universe – which includes exploring the next generation and family legacy characters, those deep family storylines and the passing of iconic roles from one person to another–  indicates this need to continue those plots to make those deeper family-related concerns, the legacy of established heroes across decades, which shows both its ambition and recognition that an aging cast eventually cannot continue carrying this weight forever!

Who Are the Young Avengers? A Look at the Classic Comics Roster

The Young Avengers aren't exactly a new concept – appearing originally in 2005 with Young Avengers #1 (created by Allan Heinberg and Jim Cheung)!  Those original members– Kate Bishop (Hawkeye), HulklingIron LadPatriotSpeed, and Wiccan–are iconic, folks! And although these guys came only about two decades ago– they became intensely popular! The intense fandom even created the environment needed to make those characters appear in the MCU.  This isn't something new however – as many iterations existed after the team was introduced.

That initial roster however got many additional characters and it included Cassie LangVisionAmerica Chavez, and Kid Loki.   Even romantic storylines blossomed (especially between Wiccan and Hulkling). The intense relationships added incredibly memorable plot points. For example, Wiccan and Speed are actually Scarlet Witch's twin sons! Kate Bishop and Cassie Lang are best friends.  Those romantic connections also added to the complexity; especially after that incredible moment showcasing the marriage between Wiccan and Hulkling.

Kamala Khan: The MCU's New Young Avengers Founder

Despite some earlier statements suggesting there would not be any current plans for making this Young Avengers project; we get an enormous plot reveal and surprise, as The Marvels changed that view dramatically and permanently, announcing a very surprising, and completely game changing choice.

Iman Vellani's Kamala Khan (aka Ms. Marvel) takes up the unexpected role; showcasing how important it would become! It seems appropriate: She’s a serious fan; incredibly skilled–  and this is a brilliantly executed decision – flipping the insult used on this team earlier on: She's the most qualified to lead them;  as that original comic's portrayal depicts those initial members viewed by many as 'mere fans', making Ms. Marvel’s takeover completely hilarious and dramatically satisfying!

The First Three Recruits: Ms. Marvel, Hawkeye, and Stature

Kamala KhanKate Bishop, and Cassie Lang make up those confirmed initial recruits– a superb initial start. And those other characters' personalities totally showcase this; the decision is extremely well considered: The existing personalities show how much sense this arrangement really is, demonstrating the great importance behind planning this specific team-up with each team member and leader.

  • Kamala Khan is that iconic fan who got superpowers!
  • Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld), is another seriously massive superfan, showcasing the same enthusiasm portrayed by Ms. Marvel; adding those unique traits which become staples within this new group. Her comments toward coming back and those positive comments toward joining another project showcase this enthusiasm! It is noted during a prior interview, in which Steinfeld remarks about a wish for coming back.
  • Cassie Lang (Kathryn Newton) – Stature – is also added.  The actress who plays this character, comments on various interview regarding the potential opportunity to come back and join future projects.

That reveal of Cassie Lang makes sense, as Ms. Marvel actually has some Intel that indicates that the Stature character would exist and makes a mention concerning her own location; all the relevant details to this particular hero which indicates Kamala Khan’s planning ahead in identifying this specific member.

More Potential Young Avengers: Who's Next?

We have already plenty of young heroes for that Young Avengers team; this already has people speculating greatly on how this entire group could look, expanding to various different kinds of hero types!

  • America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez)
  • Skaar (Wil Deusner)
  • Kid Loki (Jack Veal)
  • Eli Bradley (Elijah Richardson)
  • Ironheart (Dominique Thorne)
  • Billy Maximoff (Julian Hilliard)
  • Tommy Maximoff (Jett Klyne)
  • White Vision (Paul Bettany)

Other options for joining later include ToussaintLoveHarley KeenerAxl Heimdallson, and Phyla—there are a LOT of heroes the MCU could bring in. It all just depends on whether some of the key involved creative forces wish for those characters involved.  Miles Morales remains a far larger hero that would be inappropriate and unsuitable for this particular grouping!

When and Where Will We See the Young Avengers?

With those confirmed members and all those options; the question changes to WHEN! Those movie release dates are planned well ahead until 2027’s Avengers: Secret Wars; some open dates exist however from 2026 to 2027; which are reserved and possibly indicate a Young Avengers movie, or maybe that show. We will need to keep our eyes open for possible releases; although it doesn’t necessarily mean these will definitely happen; the chances that they might become more of a thing in the future still remain very strong, for audiences expecting these new storylines!

Another scenario could feature these characters as support for future Avengers films; and while this could possibly happen; the comments regarding Iman Vellani concerning a planned storyline suggest this wouldn’t be necessary – it should feature those individual team-based storyline experiences! Yet other possible directions could develop this particular idea with great flexibility!

Conclusion: A New Era of Heroes Begins in the MCU!

With many others potentially available; including various unexpected twists; this is just another reminder of how this production and the ongoing MCU itself, continually plans to change, evolve and expand as its creative teams see opportunities, ensuring a long-lasting future! It will be fun, indeed.
