How Did The Jedi Mess Up Recruiting, And How Did Luke Fix It?
In Star Wars, you might think that those super-powered Jedi Knights could find any kid with a connection to the Force. But the original Movies hinted that the Jedi made a pretty big mistake in their recruiting strategies, and Luke Skywalker actually learned from it when he tried to rebuild the Jedi Order.
The Jedi Were Only Recruiting Kids In the Republic, Right?
- You gotta watch The Phantom Menace! This one is so crazy, with all those cool scenes, but that's where it's all hinted! We even see those Jedi Masters checking out this powerful kid, Anakin. They are surprised because they found him on Tatooine - not really the main places they went searching for Force-sensitive kids!
- They pretty much said they only looked at Jedi Initiates from the Republic and left the rest of the galaxy behind! This one scene really messed things up! So how did Luke change things up?
How Did Luke Fix The Jedi Order's Big Mistake?
- They probably found lots of Jedi in places nobody thought to look, but you've got to wonder how Luke did it, right? Since Luke basically started a new Jedi Order on his own, he didn't have to stick to the rules! It was a brand-new, super cool Jedi Temple!
- So, here's a thought - if those Jedi masters in the prequel trilogy almost missed Anakin Skywalker, imagine all those super strong, powerful Force users that they never found! Those were the guys that would've made a great Jedi! It was basically the Jedi leaving out the majority of the galaxy - so if that is true, Luke was doing some seriously big things!
Was Anakin's Lightsaber Part of It?
There's definitely something special about Anakin's lightsaber - especially after he joined the dark side. In the Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Rey had those weird vision-thingy, but Star Wars never said anything about Order 66 or how he did so much bad stuff, even killing children with that awesome lightsaber.
All we know for now is that Luke changed the whole Jedi order - and made sure his temple found as many powerful Force users as they could, across the whole galaxy. That means, that he was super busy. And don't forget, all that hard work was in a post-Empire era - that's when things were still shaky! Even if he didn't succeed for too long, he tried to make sure the Jedi had a second chance! Now we can only hope we get to see those scenes!
