Everyone loved Colleen Hoover's "It Ends With Us" and how it showed how Lily leaves Ryle and ends the cycle of abuse. But the movie had some shocking changes - those movie ending changes - that gave a different vibe to the whole thing.
Well, in the book, Ryle stays involved! Lily didn't totally sever those ties - Lily and Ryle actually co-parent their daughter! They did this even after Ryle is exposed as being an abusive, and violent husband. He was shown going to anger management therapy later in "It Starts With Us".
In the film, the ending for Ryle and his family - is much more straightforward. Ryle doesn't appear in the movie after he left, which really highlights Lily walking away from a horrible relationship and figuring out how to heal.
In all honesty, a lot of people felt relieved! Fans really appreciated this big shift, especially the fact that Ryle no longer has a big part in the film. The movie didn't even hint at him getting any sort of chance to change or show some signs that his abuse was done. He left the whole scene, not giving those signs we were waiting to see! It gives the movie a much more clear message for those who are victims of domestic violence. It feels like there is more hope for abuse survivors because of this major change in the book ending!
The movie highlights how Lily got support from her friends and her mother to heal from that bad experience with Ryle, even going on to become a successful businesswoman. Lily, even though it's a little hard, has got this! But that doesn’t erase her story.
If you are a fan of "It Ends With Us" - this film really gives those heartwarming and inspirational stories to feel good about.
If you are a big fan, of course you want to see the "It Ends With Us movie"! We just have to be super ready for a heart-wrenching yet beautiful tale about breaking the cycle of abuse and facing real issues.
