Brat Pack Movies Not Considered Back To The Future
Brats, mentioning the sci-fi film Back to the Future, is not regarded as a Brat Pack movie notwithstanding the Brat Pack documentary. The Brat Pack films Back to the Future meets have certain distinctive qualities. First of all, even if science fiction is the most popular genre, the movie also incorporates features of a coming-of- age film. The film also debuted in the 1980s, when the period most Brat Pack films were produced.
Back to the Future, though, also violates several of the main guidelines defining the genre. The label's de facto rule is that two or more Brat Pack members must show up; Back to the Future features just one Brat Pack-adjacent actor. The young adult characters in the Brat Pack films likewise take front stage nearly entirely. Back to the Future tread this line since Doc Brown is significantly older while Marty McFly is a teen. These elements make Back to the Future a Brat Pack-adjacent film at best only.
Fox, Michael J. Was Not Part Of The Brat Pack Either
Lea Thompson is the only Back to the Future actor with any Brat Pack connection; but she is regarded as peripheral to the group rather than a member. Michael J. Fox was never included under the Brat Pack, even if he seems to be a part of it. The actor never got lumped in with the official Brat Pack members onscreen since he never worked with them.
Michael J. Fox was not among the teen or young adult performers who started their careers in movies, the term Brat Pack was designated for. Fox had his major break performing Alex P. Keaton on the TV sitcom Family Ties before Back to the Future.
