A post-credits sequence in Inside Out 2 sees Joy going back to Riley's vault of secrets to equip viewers for the major disclosure that Riley is gay. But this did not turn out to be the case; Riley burned a hole in a rug once, albeit this was just hinted at. For some who hoped for some appropriate queer representation in a Pixar picture, this was her deep dark secret—a major letdown in Inside Out 2 as the movie lost its opportunity to validate Riley Inside Out theory.

The follow-up to the 2015 original Movie, Inside Out 2 features Riley, a young child with a literally head full of emotions.
