Inside Out 2's Huge Secret: Is Riley Truly LGBTQ+? The truth will astound you.

Riley's Deep Dark Secret Reveal Makes Less likely Inside Out Theory

Riley has a deep dark secret, according to Inside Out 2, and yet the Sequel's tidy narrative rhythm makes one popular Inside Out idea significantly less feasible. It was obvious in the run-up to Inside Out 2 that many years of Riley's life had gone by, which led to many various ideas about what had happened to her in the years between the two Inside Out movies. One theory caught out above all the others as most often used, and although Inside Out 2 did not specifically challenge it, it is now significantly less likely.

With the much awaited follow-up to Pixar's acclaimed 2015 movie now available for moviegoers, Inside Out 2 has at last been unveiled. Riley's original five emotions five new feelings, with those being Anxiety, Envy, Embarrassment, Ennui, and Nostalgia, Inside Out 2 develops on the fundamental idea of the critically praised original film. Though they comprise the most of Inside Out 2's new narrative, these fascinating new individuals are not the only main arc in the sequel since one storyline revolves on Riley's Deep Dark Secret she has been keeping.

Riley's Deep Dark Secret within Inside Out 2 isn't that she's LGBTQ+

Many fans were especially eager for the Sequel to show that she is LGBTQ+, something that was extensively hypothesized in the years preceding Inside Out 2. The trailers suggested Riley might be LGBTQ+ in Inside Out 2 by hinting Riley had feelings for an older female hockey player on her squad. Though one narrative line in Inside Out 2 hinted at that it would by the end of the movie, many Fans completely expected to witness this discovery take place in the film. It did not happen.

Riley's darkest secrets are hidden in a vault where the major five emotions lock up early in the movie. Joy encounters Riley's Deep Dark Secret while there, and although she attempts to get him to tell what the secret is, he refuses. Many supporters believed Riley's deep dark secret would be that she is gay upon this disclosure since it seemed like the ideal arrangement to indicate Riley was suppressing these emotions and would only come out with the aid of her other emotions. A post-credits sequence in Inside Out 2 sees Joy going back to Riley's vault of secrets to equip viewers for the major disclosure that Riley is gay. But this did not turn out to be the case; Riley burned a hole in a rug once, albeit this was just hinted at. For some who hoped for some appropriate queer representation in a Pixar picture, this was her deep dark secret—a major letdown in Inside Out 2 as the movie lost its opportunity to validate Riley Inside Out theory.

Riley Not Being Clearly LGBTQ+ In Inside Out 2 Challenges The Theory

Riley not being out gay makes it much more difficult, even if some Fans are still clinging to the notion that Riley is LGBTQ+ in the universe of Inside Out. Riley never freely tells any of her pals that she is LGBTQ+, even if the movie suggests that she might be crushing on Val. This suggests that, should Riley be gay, she has not yet come out.

This is why the only option to show that she is LGBTQ+ would have been to let the viewers know that she has a portion of her thinking revealing this. Riley's sexuality would have presumably shown up in some form in her consciousness, however Inside Out 2 makes no reference to this. Riley still appears to be straight in Inside Out 2; it is never indicated that she is concealing her sexuality as all of her crushes are boys.

How Inside Out 3 Still Reveals Riley Is LGBTQ+

Though it hasn't happened yet, Inside Out 3 can yet show Riley is LGBTQ+. Like Inside Out 2, Inside Out 3 might occur following a time leap with an emphasis on Riley's few-year older version. With this forming part of the third movie's narrative, Riley could have had the chance to understand she is LGBTQ+. Riley might not have understood that she is LGBTQ+ in the chronology of Inside Out 2 yet, since Pixar has reserved this plot for a sequel.

The follow-up to the 2015 original Movie, Inside Out 2 features Riley, a young child with a literally head full of emotions. The all-star group brought to life the feelings teenagers experience as they develop, evolve, and adjust to new circumstances: Amy Pohler as Joy, Bill Hader as Anxiety, Mindy Kaling as Disgust, Phyllis Smith as Sadness, and Lewis Black as Anger. Currently under development, this sequel will have Riley, now a teenage, Amy Pohler returning as Joy.
