"Twisters," Powell's next film, is much awaited follow-up to the 1996 disaster classic. Frank Marshal is producer; Steven Spielberg and Mark L. Smith are fast-tracking the movie. Although specifics about the story are still under wraps, it is said Helen Hunt will play Jo again and the movie will honor late Bill Paxton.
After the poor Tomatometer rating for "Anyone But You," Powell recovered with a run of favorable reviews for his next movies. His documentary "The Blue Angels" scored an 83 percent, while the Netflix rom-com "Hit Man" got an amazing 95 percent. Right now, "Twisters" gets at 77 percent. Released in 2024, these three movies highlight Powell's ability to provide audiences and critics equally appealing performances.
Although critics may have found "Anyone But You" unsatisfactory, viewers gave it great comments, scoring an 87 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. This implies the movie might have connected more to viewers than to critics.
