Have you ever wondered about some of the craziest mysteries in the world of math? Or, for that matter, if you had a brilliant child? You would definitely get drawn into these world of amazing calculations with the movie "Gifted."! You can see this one on the big screen because it was released back in 2017, and had fans of movies with some scientific, intellectual thrills! id="what-is-the-navier-stokes-problem"> What is The Navier-Stokes Problem?
There are a number of amazing equations that drive a whole bunch of amazing scientific moments! Some are known as "Millennium Prize Problems." If anyone could solve them, you could be getting $1 Million in prize money. However, no one is able to crack them as they seem to have too many complexities for some to solve.
It's incredible to think about the universe! This kind of problem, in "Gifted", revolves around something a lot more down to earth! The Navier-Stokes equation gives mathematicians a chance to look deeply into fluid mechanics! The equations have proven very useful as they help describe how liquids move. The Navier-Stokes problem comes in because it is one of the biggest, unsolved issues! The main problem is figuring out if smooth solutions in three dimensions are able to exist.
This dramatic film "Gifted" follows Mary Adler! She was only seven! What makes Mary an extraordinary kid? Her brain! Mary had an exceptional talent. It seems "Mary" may just be the world's youngest math whiz and what made it even more important for the movie, she took the time to get a whole new perspective on what math really meant to the world. The story is all about her growth but also what it is like for her to deal with these huge intellectual expectations!
"Gifted" took inspiration from some of the most mind-bending equations ever devised!
These were deemed to be "unsolvable" and the Clay Mathematics Institute (CMI) put their efforts and finances toward trying to crack some of these mathematical codes.
They offered a cool $1 Million to anyone who could solve it! What made it interesting for the 21st century is that some 20th-century mathematicians tried to figure this all out as well! This list of problems is called the "Millennium Prize Problems."
So far the Navier-Stokes problem still hasn't been cracked.
If it looks as complex as it sounds! It is!
There's nothing like a good drama! And what "Gifted" does is that the equations are essential. These equations were also shown in the show in a simple but compelling way!
It may take some research to know more about these incredible mathematical formulas, however!
They really gave viewers a sense of these intricate patterns!
What's really impressive is that some mathematicians and the CMI organization, really believe these types of mathematical mysteries may help drive innovations and make a huge difference to those in science.
It might be an amazing story but "Gifted" was made before mathematicians found a way to solve this mathematical enigma. It has certainly led some people to feel like they've cracked the code over the years and it is important to note, none of these people had any success in making a solid case for it to be solved.
If anyone ever solved it, they would certainly be a legend.
The Clay Mathematics Institute (CMI) really did a great job putting forth this challenge.
These crazy problems will remain a mystery, but hopefully "Gifted" inspired people to dive into the complex world of mathematics and think beyond the norms.
