Did Lord Of the Rings' Gandalf's Witch-king Fight Deserve More Screen Time?
Gandalf is quite important in arranging Minas Tirith's defense during the Siege of Gondor in *The Lord Of The Rings: The Return of the King*. The Witch-king helps the castle's defenses to be broken even if at first they seem to be somewhat impervious. Riding atop his Fell Beast, the Witch-king breaks his staff by destroying several of Minas Tirith's trebuchets before descending and running across Gandalf. But only the expanded version of *The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King* features Gandalf's fleeting struggle with the Witch-king*.
A struggle between Gandalf and the Witch-king feels, in many respects, like a good fit. Both are incredibly strong entities; one stands for the powers of virtue while the other for the forces of evil. Though Éowyn (Miranda Otto) finally delivers the finishing blow on Pelennor Fields, having a longer protracted struggle between Gandalf and the Witch-king could have taken away from the villain's ultimate death.
Gandalf Fights The Witch-King Cosplay Stunning Lord Of The Rings
A magnificent new *Lord Of The Rings* cosplayer imagines Gandalf and the Witch-king engaged in a sword combat. First bringing J.R. Tolkien's Middle-earth universe to life in live-action in 2001, Peter Jackson chronicled Frodo's (Elijah Wood) epic mission to destroy the One Ring. Over all three franchise films, Gandalf ( Ian McKellen) is instrumental; finally, towards the climax of *The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King*, he has a brief face-off with the Witch-king of Angmar.
@gandalfCosplay posted a fresh cosplay on Instagram that recreates Gandalf's struggle with the Witch-king in *The Lord of the Rings*, and both characters are faithfully rendered with remarkable degree of detail. View the cosplay below. Although Gandalf the White battles the Witch-king in *The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King*, this cosplay sees that it was rather Gandalf the Grey. The cosplayer faithfully copies the wizard's robes and apparently boasts some exact prop replicas, including Gandalf's staff and Glamdring, his sword.
The enigmatic Witch-king of Angmar, whose the franchise discloses virtually little about, was one of *The Lord of the Rings* main enemy.
Otto is scheduled to do Éowyn in voice-only for the forthcoming animated film, *The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim*. Of course, it's also important to note that the Witch-king does not break Gandalf's staff in Tolkien's source material; Jackson most certainly included the scene to intensify the stakes. The choice is quite divisive since some believe Gandalf is shown as being overly frail during these events. But the above *Lord of the Rings* Cosplay really presents a fascinating idea for a bigger struggle between Gandalf and the Witch-king.

The Lord of the Rings: An Interpretive Guide on the Franchise
Released by Amazon, *The Lord of the Rings* is a multimedia series comprising multiple films and a TV show titled *The Rings of Power*. J. R. Tolkien's book series starting in 1954 with *The Fellowship of the Ring* forms the basis of the franchise. With Peter Jackson's *The Lord of the Rings* and *The Hobbit* trilogies, the Lord of the Rings saw mainstream appeal.
These books' success has drawn many readers to their tales and provided a lot of inspiration for the contemporary fantasy genre.
