Movies News Talk
Hold the door! A Game of Thrones movie might actually happen. Warner Bros. is in early talks about bringing George R.R. Martin's epic fantasy world to the big screen. No directors, writers, or cast are attached yet, so it is still very very very very much so up in the air whether or not this actually does even really become anything substantial for viewers other than simply another mention amongst internet chatter as an entertainment mention.. Rather as another tidbit alongside more recent "popular," media discussions where many probably even have forgotten after reading something entirely unrelated only moment's after. Like that viral Kit Harrington pitched "Jon Snow continuation idea which also got cancelled so "who really, ever even knows" whether any such continuation also gets produced nor approved through completion. But then with Warner Bros also involved since those manage that property overall currently also.
This is pretty huge news, especially given HBO's previous resistance to a Thrones movie, and rather opting only those long term deals across which would remain HBO based exclusively or related, affiliated spin-off projects also, through those deals as well that had previously also gotten reached with George RR Martin too.. Maybe all changes! Although, "why did we so eagerly consume both movies rather than any TV series adaptations." But even recently "the box office numbers reflect increasingly declining profits for cinematic releases also. All so despite so much eagerness among industry experts "to see that old media revive into larger, previous profitable state also.” Why though I personally myself I am rather less concerned other than when enjoying, as either simply media consumption form rather than some corporate shareholder perspective either. Just want see my media rather, please!
It remains extremely unlikely and even after just two weeks they still lack directors also either!. If/when casting comes also hopefully these include Kit alongside all other prior main-cast-list “favourites too. I want Emilia!, for such project rather than being entirely absent so this would provide something awesome now! Especially given Emilia’s absence among all prior announced/upcoming GOT universe works despite already getting produced by both Max also, besides purely some prior seasons “re-masters into even higher, improved resolution and colour palettes for larger media consumption format, although otherwise ultimately those constitute purely existing, and previously fully available seasons despite providing technically "new media." Even by definition. Ultimately its pretty exciting, no matter the angle to be looking “into those GOT news”.
This whole idea has actually popped-up previously!. Originally showrunners Benioff along with partner D.B. Weiss even planned trilogy style end too their “flagship title”, rather than how “their initial adaptation series actually concluded,” and even Martin was a big movie proponent also which seems especially likely as then allowed additional, further time spent further away in finishing Martin's "books too!” since always facing additional writing pressures, no matter quality from books also once show actually surpassed also “his existing writing output.” Ultimately for now everyone is just discussing something “GOT as cinematic piece now,” with none clear answer now yet available about final forms rather or if they eventually also must follow HBO “original TV storyline format since that’s currently seen more widespread recognition even than Martin’s book which as mentioned, also they hadn’t completed yet now too either which complicates matters now too, despite now so many “spin-offs” happening also!
The timing here feels “right.” Recently more previously exclusive large “genre film properties” went to, small and back rather fluidly even, such as Harry Potter adaptation recently happening despite Rowling not even officially involved as if “no longer interested either for more direct engagement in similar Potter adaptation productions unlike during more prior production where held almost daily communication even alongside producers but not necessarily the casting or filming either although now mostly simply just focusing rather on "managing Potter book franchises, alone now.
Even HBO recognizes trend-changes! Especially after that 2024, where seemingly, most “new large mainstream media properties from HBO specifically became those adaptations and related works, also either around Sci-Fi or Fantasies" which were huge across their original forms where some titles simply appear so “ubiquitous such as Dunes and those previously shown LOTR properties as one amongst others even” and now as such there now includes some GOT adaptation as one potentially newest title amongst their portfolio where such “brand visibility only continues building already”. From such its unsurprising even for those who haven't watched any of the previously related episodes to then get interested now further. “I see new audiences join also!” Maybe from a large potential Game Of Thrones movie also either. In either regard GOT visibility is growing “further no matter how exactly.
This might also provide a workaround with earlier reception which has been a lot less popular among existing Thrones fans who wanted something that felt more in sync with GOT overall universe other than something new now. That doesn’t “feel fully correct anymore for certain existing viewer segment’s” either. So perhaps as one fix rather “provide something entirely new instead, for them.” Especially also once existing HBO properties have some kind new cinematic appearance instead of some prequel. I definitely want know too how well these both get produced AND the subsequent reception afterwards once hitting box-office.
But as we see after reading now in knowing a Game of Thrones movie exists “only those extremely, super early phases for now either.” Where its less that the original creator isn't directly participating and in some “director-less/ writer-less production team where neither those writers/directors attached at time during announcement instead. Perhaps its ultimately the fans themselves ultimately making those ultimate judgements upon how good either GOT movie production can ultimately do too rather than only from the creators.
Right now, all GOT spinoffs— including House of the Dragon and other potential prequel “Kit led stories” — have one main common element of all prequels that are simply exploring Martin’s very earlier existing periods across previously described settings already too rather than offering too “original GOT universe now either,” such as potential continuations of Arya for example during adventures beyond her known Western regions instead too unlike purely these now known prequel storyline too!
A sequel film? Even if unrelated completely with HBO storyline!. would allow them exploring also beyond prior “Jon storyline endings which despite some planned spin-offs remain without completed, finished works also other than what we know only now. Maybe now some finally new Game of Thrones appears after that big cinema appearance, I look forward so!.
