The Fast & Furious franchise? Insane car chases, over-the-top action, and unbelievable stunts that keep pushing the boundaries of cinematic reality! Yet even the most absurd moments typically have an element of logic applied to maintain suspension of disbelief, allowing viewers to engage fully with the action and stunts, although it is entirely understandable to expect such a premise from the start, when considering those later Movies in the series!

But The Fate of the Furious (2017) has one scene that remains ridiculously illogical; and is completely unrelated to any of the car stuff—this is surprising, and frankly unbelievable that no one on that set questioned its inclusion in that exact spot; that specific BBQ scene with Deckard Shaw. Even after seven years, fans are still scratching their heads, prompting discussions around this franchise, regarding the earlier installments; it has sparked interest in both classic fans and newer ones as well! Let’s delve into this absurdity.

Deckard Shaw: From Villain to Family BBQ Guest— WTF?!

Jason Statham’s Deckard Shaw was the main villain in Furious 7 – seeking revenge on Dom Toretto’s crew. He is driven by revenge against those who harmed his brother, a moment earlier used as justification and revenge motive. The Furious 7 post-credits scene makes his grudge against the crew even more serious because that revealed his role in Han Lue's death from Tokyo Drift— that long-loved character! The reveal, as we all expect, creates an extremely serious antipathy against Shaw, creating some important narrative issues and that controversy, further impacts how this entire scene came to make very little sense at the very ending.

Then, Fate of the Furious has him join Dom’s famous family BBQ. This sounds incredibly strange; it simply shouldn't be possible; considering all the immense levels of violence that this specific villain had used and caused upon everyone who participated! Despite this, this moment exists, and Shaw is now supposedly accepted, even if only seemingly– creating that completely unbelievable moment where an almost complete forgiven attitude toward murder attempts and previous acts, has happened and this lack of justice remains entirely illogical; yet continues through the various later plots in Fast X which showcases additional conflicts and plot points between the characters involved!

The “Justice for Han” Campaign: A Furious Backlash

That BBQ scene exploded a HUGE “Justice for Han” online campaign which already had established its fame after Han's death was retconned earlier! It had intensified, after seeing Dom easily forgave Shaw! Fans are extremely upset. They demand consequences for attempting murders, which completely destroys all prior assumptions created by viewers which assume that attempts to harm, and prior attempts of murdering many main characters within this plot– especially those very early ones who’d never harmed him! Dom’s forgiveness goes completely against that previously stated importance of family and really destroyed much of this thematic importance by making the main character appear to suddenly lack values, in this instance.

Han's Return in F9: Did It Really Fix Anything?

F9 brought Han back (as we all know); another massive twist and totally effective character arc. The movie retconned Tokyo Drift, creating new narrative opportunities by revealing that Han survived and is actually part of Mr. Nobody’s operation and made sense by adding this entirely new element to that original series. Even making sense by introducing an existing character whom fans might expect: A former operative! This character is a classic; that addition only further enhanced its reception!

But, that initial scene still doesn’t really make sense! It's not explained how Dom could seemingly have such forgiveness without those previous actions affecting his ability to have faith in this villain. The justification for this entirely unjustified appearance and action never works; considering Dom didn’t even know Han survived– which further illustrates how that BBQ moment was completely unjustifiable! Even Fast X’s attempts to address this have completely failed.

Conclusion: Seven Years Later, This Fast & Furious Moment Remains Utterly Baffling!

Even for Fast & Furious, those wildly impossible feats usually have a flimsy logic. That BBQ scene? Utterly nonsensical. It shouldn't exist, which goes beyond merely expecting implausible outcomes, that very expectation of being improbable was what fueled interest! Even though Shaw saved Dom's son; that's easily overlooked given prior acts committed—creating an enormously unbelievable level of instant forgiveness and the scene makes almost no sense whatsoever! Yet many audience members continued to expect increasingly over-the-top outcomes that push what the movies could portray. It doesn’t justify itself, regardless of future attempts that seek to change that! It's just completely bizarre; this event stands on its own, unrelated to anything previously stated or done!
