Fallout Season 2: Actress Ella Purnell's Exploration of Lucy's Reaction to the Ghoul's Past

How Will Lucy React to The Ghoul's Past Identity in Fallout Season 2?

Cooper Howard, a Hollywood actor and Vault-Tec ambassador prior to The Great War, was transformed into a ghoul after the bombs fell and now works as a gunslinger and bounty hunter in the Fallout universe. Lucy, on the other hand, is a Vault Dweller, and at the end of Fallout season 1, she realizes that her father, Hank (Kyle MacLachlan), the Overseer of Vault 33, is not who he seems. Hank, sometimes known as Henry, is a Vault-Tec employee who worked alongside Cooper's wife Barb prior to the bombings.

During the season 1 finale, the show interweaves Lucy's current discoveries with Cooper's previous ones. This, as Purnell points out, made her realize the show was drawing comparisons between Lucy and The Ghoul. While she spends the majority of her time hating him, Lucy finds she and The Ghoul have more in common than she thought, which is why she decides to follow him at the end of season 1. In Fallout Season 2, The Ghoul will search for his family, while Lucy will also look for information about her family.

Ella Purnell Reflects on Lucy's Fallout Season 2 Journey

In Fallout Season 2, Ella Purnell discusses Lucy's reaction to The Ghoul's prior identity. Set in the same universe as the Bethesda video game franchise, Prime Video's series follows three people on separate adventures who meet in the post-apocalyptic wastes of a wrecked Los Angeles. Aside from Purnell as the juvenile Vault Dweller Lucy, the Fallout show's cast and characters include Walton Goggins as The Ghoul/Cooper Howard and Aaron Moten as Brotherhood of Steel member Maximus.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Purnell discussed how Lucy will react to learning The Ghoul's previous identity as Cooper Howard in Fallout season 2. The actress says showrunners rarely reveal future story points to performers, but she speculated on how Lucy's discovery that Cooper Howard was the original Vault-Tec mascot will affect her character in the future. Fallout Season 2 Plot Predictions: What Happens Next for Lucy and The Ghoul?

One of my favorite things about television is that you never know what's going to happen — unless you have great showrunners who tell you everything, which has never happened in my experience. In my experience, showrunners never tell you anything, and you simply read the script until you have to completely rethink what you were doing. It's tough, but also enjoyable. So I spent the majority of my time as Lucy simply loathing the Ghoul, and then, stupidly, in the final episode, I realized way too late that the story they were really trying to communicate was how similar Lucy and the Ghoul are. It corresponded with Lucy's discovery that her assertion, "I may look like you, but I'll never be like you," might not be entirely accurate. So that discovery occurred at an ideal time, but I have no idea what will happen in season two, and I'm extremely excited to find out. But, if and when Lucy learns about [Cooper's Vault-Tec history], it will further strengthen her belief that individuals change on the Wasteland. And if he used to be like that, what is she in for?

It will be interesting to see how Lucy reacts to knowing about The Ghoul's past as a Vault-Tec spokesperson, which is unavoidable in season 2. While Lucy will undoubtedly feel betrayed, her personality implies that the finding may expand her awareness of how individuals change in the Wasteland and lead her to consider her own capacity for transformation. Overall, Lucy and The Ghoul will be looking for the same answers in Fallout Season 2, so they should remain allies for the foreseeable future.

Fallout Season 2: A New Chapter in the Postapocalyptic World

Fallout is a drama series set in post-apocalyptic Los Angeles, inspired by the same-named video game franchise. The series chronicles the survivors of the human species in an alternate 1950s timeline in which nuclear war decimated the Earth, resulting in massive radioactive zones and mutated humanity that now roam the earth.

The first season of Fallout attracted viewers with its distinctive blend of action, drama, and humor. The series delves into the intricate and often cruel realities of living in the Wasteland. The second season will undoubtedly expand on the existing environment and characters, digging deeper into the secrets of Vault 33, investigating the motivations behind the Vault-Tec organization, and navigating the complicated connections between Lucy, The Ghoul, and Maximus. The release date for Fallout season 2 has yet to be announced, but fans are anxiously anticipating the second part in the series, hoping to find more secrets and learn more about the characters' backgrounds.
