Dragonball Evolution's Biggest Fail? Not Having Krillin
Oh boy, was Dragonball Evolution bad. That movie that came out way back in 2009 tried to bring Dragon Ball to the big screen. The movie was so bad, they couldn’t even do the characters right, and missed one of the best parts about the Anime - Krillin!
Is It True That Dragonball Evolution Ignored Krillin?
That's the sad truth! This live-action movie was actually meant to tell the same story that is in the first Dragon Ball Series, so the creators were supposed to show Goku's whole early journey of looking for those Dragon Balls to protect his planet! And yes, we're all wondering - did that movie actually ditch Krillin - our super-powered and hilarious sidekick?! Krillin doesn't really stand out that much at the start, but he becomes the heart and soul of the Dragon Ball Universe - especially in Dragon Ball Z - because he becomes super important to the crew!
Even though they tried to tell the early Dragon Ball story - which was a super important one for those Dragon Ball Fans, they made a bunch of other really odd decisions, and they kinda turned Goku into a high school kid instead of a powerful fighter! What is with that casting choice? But what's worse is they ditched Krillin completely.
Could Krillin Have Saved the Movie?
- We don't even want to imagine! They completely messed up the Dragonball Evolution Movie's character designs and scripts.
- That would have been epic - but we really can't tell because we've never seen him in the movie. We are not sure if he would have been great. But with all the things wrong with that movie - like how Master Roshi was only used for exposition - a real, funny Krillin could have brought a much-needed laugh!
Why Is Krillin So Important in "Dragon Ball"?
- Goku's best bud! The guy's been his best friend since they were kids. This character brings the fun into this big story.
- The one you’ll root for! Krillin is basically the voice of reason in a crazy story - like Goku’s Dragon Ball Strength!
- Krillin gets us pumped for some action too - his Dragon Ball Fighting Style is amazing. Even if he has a tendency to die every once in awhile in those crazy Dragon Ball animated series! The great part is, he always comes back to life and makes those crazy adventures more entertaining!
- Those Dragon Ball movies are still epic, even without a Krillin - so we are still going to watch! But you can't imagine it without the rest of those iconic characters.
Is Another Live-Action Dragon Ball on the Way?
After Dragonball Evolution, we have Dragon Ball Super, a new anime and a new Dragon Ball movie, in theatres - but the world is not seeing more live-action Dragon Ball just yet, - at least no one has confirmed anything. And the best part is that people really believe it would have to be better than that awful Dragon Ball movie of 2009, to get more Dragon Ball Fans watching!
I'm pretty sure if another movie ever came out - it's gotta have Krillin - we have those epic moments with Goku! I mean, they might need to do a lot better on everything, with better characters, better story - the whole thing! We have high hopes!
We’ll keep a lookout - because they just announced an awesome, Live-Action adaptation of another manga that everyone loved called One Piece. It came out this year - so maybe that'll mean something good is on the horizon, as far as these live-action manga or Anime series are concerned.
