The sequel was announced in2020. Then Lionsgate gave us a projectedFebruary 9, 2024release. Then another twist– it got pushed toSummer 2025! And more recently, things remain uncertain!
Jennifer Grey, while recently asked for some clarification regarding that upcoming release date, dodged the question, stating the following; implying further possible delays in the works; “I can’t tell you much about Dirty Dancing as I’m not going to make promises. I’m just waiting for them to really nail it down as it has to be right. We can push that aside until we next time we speak when it hopefully will all be ironed out.” The creative process obviously requires a long time and there might just be more involved than many anticipate and might change many expectations involved.The reasons behind these delays aren’t mentioned exactly and further clarification and elaboration on the issue might only be disclosed once it's further resolved; thus its actual production and release might remain uncertain for the time being, depending upon those various other conditions mentioned previously.
