Crawl 2: Get Ready for Gator Mayhem in NYC!

The Crawl's Back? Get Ready for More Alligator Action!

Remember the creepy-Crawly Movie “Crawl" starring Kaya Scodelario, and that whole "oh no, a hurricane, AND a killer gator?" thing? That was pretty intense. Well, it looks like this monster-filled mayhem is getting a sequel - “Crawl 2" and this time the action moves to the Big Apple!

Let’s rewind for a second. “Crawl” (produced by the great Sam Raimi, known for the amazing Evil Dead) took a very simple idea – a hurricane and a big alligator – and transformed it into one seriously scary movie! Audiences were pretty surprised, but that’s why Sam Raimi always does so well, because even simple stuff can get turned into some seriously awesome stories. I mean, “Crawl” did great at the box office when it first dropped in 2019 and then blew up on Netflix when they picked it up a couple of years later.

Get Ready for More of That Same Awesome Creepiness

“Crawl” director Alexandre Aja, who brought you those crazy scary films "High Tension" and “The Hills Have Eyes", is already working on a brand new screenplay for this new Sequel. With him behind the wheel? You know it’s gonna be amazing. We’re going to see another intense film full of killer gators, a whole new group of actors, and hopefully, even more unexpected twists and some cool New York city chaos!

You’d think the creators might go back to Florida because, it's already been established! We already know the characters and those gator vibes. But this time around, they are turning the “Crawl” story upside down with a New York setting. Imagine all those sewers! And you already know those Alligators won't play nice with all those fancy hotels in NYC, so that could lead to some great Horror, just like the first "Crawl"! And I have to admit, the thought of killer gators tearing through the Big Apple… That's totally giving me chills.

What to Expect from "Crawl 2"

Since "Crawl 2" is switching the whole location up, we’re gonna see a new cast, too! This is your chance to see those Alligators tear up NYC. As much as I liked those “Crawl” characters and those “Hurricane scenes” – they were pretty iconic - a new batch of folks will be the ones battling these giant reptiles in the concrete jungle! Let's just hope those alligator scenes will still give us chills, and not be over-the-top to the point of feeling cheesy.

We are hoping to get those gnarly Horror moments (like those amazing gator-attack scenes in "Crawl"). Remember that “Crawl” soundtrack was super awesome. It added so much to that sense of doom and dread – they are just killing it with the soundtrack of these horror films.

“Crawl 2”– Will It Be Another Big Win?

We don’t know exactly when "Crawl 2" will drop in theatres. Production is reportedly planned to begin late in 2024. That leaves plenty of time for everyone to get super stoked for those monster-filled shenanigans because “Crawl” did great for Netflix after it finished playing in the theatres.

The film did fantastic with critics and fans alike, with its score being 84% on Rotten Tomatoes – a good score. Everyone who wants to get their dose of those killer alligators and intense suspense ( and really good horror Movies), you have a lot to look forward to, especially after how "Crawl" did at the box office in 2019. We'll definitely be watching, but until that moment happens, I'll be busy prepping my own New York city escape route!

Beyond "Crawl" - The World of Alexandre Aja

Even if “Crawl 2” never saw the light of day, Alexandre Aja already has a pretty stellar career! He’s known for his serious and shocking Movies, like “High Tension" (it’s got all the tension) and "The Hills Have Eyes” ( it shows how far those “Hillbilly” vibes can go), not to mention a bunch of those awesome slasher films.

Aja's got the skills, so, “Crawl 2” is set to make some serious waves! He has that real knack for taking horror to a new level with those awesome movie endings. This Sequel's gonna bring more chaos, some big jumpscares (no spoilers here) - all those awesome parts that make “Crawl” so popular!
