Though the ultimate determinant of a movie's success is not its critical reception, the critical failure of the 2020 action flick most likely will prohibit Ava 2 from ever being made. Given his great dedication to his wife Judy, musician-turned-actor Common might possibly be back to fulfill Michael's role. Ava's ending sees Chastain's character tending to Michael's gambling debts then learns Simon killed Duke. With both protagonists driven to leave due of approaching police officers, the conclusion consists in a violent and bloody confrontation between the assassin and her mysterious boss. Ava promptly finds Simon and puts a bullet in his forehead, though. Simon's daughter Camille is watching her father's killer closely as the film ends.
Given that cliffhanger conclusion, Camille seems to be positioned as the next villain should Ava 2 ever be produced.
