The X-Men Original Trilogy - Has it Aged Well?
Back in the day, The X-men Trilogy was like a superhero boom! It launched the whole Marvel movie madness, but nowadays, it looks kinda different. Time has moved on, special effects have gotten awesome, and even the comic book adaptations have changed!
Does the X-Men Original Trilogy Actually Age Poorly?
Yeah, those X-Men Movies from way back - they haven't held up as well as those new Marvel movies, and some things just don't feel the same as they did! The cool parts are still cool! Like how they totally explored the struggles of superheroes - trying to find their place when everyone's scared of them.
What Were Those Awkward Moments?
- One thing they got wrong, those black leather X-Men suits! You know Wolverine's whole thing, the yellow spandex. This wasn't in those old X-Men films, because it wasn't popular then. But with all those crazy superhero movies, they started doing those super comic book-accurate costumes, and you know the X-Men should've jumped on board!
- The introduction to Wolverine wasn't all that great, either, because he's the one they brought in after they were already an established team. They kinda threw all the codenames at him - that didn't quite work. But as superhero films matured, the ways they introduce characters got more interesting, like, way more thoughtful.
Are There Any Major Mistakes in The X-Men Movies?
- Yeah, it's not the best that Professor X just ignored the Mystique. It makes no sense! Xavier was a mind-reading guy. Why didn't he notice that Mystique was at his school in the X-Men movie! It got even more weird when they did prequel movies - you could see how those two had a close relationship.
- The scene when Storm took on Toad had the most famous, and honestly the most bad dialogue! Like super cheesey. In the comics, she's super eloquent!
How Did X-Men: The Last Stand Age?
Well, "X-Men: The Last Stand" is totally controversial!
- They got the Dark Phoenix thing all messed up. This whole scene with Jean Grey's sacrifice felt rushed. We needed a better understanding of why she'd give her life for the X-Men team - you could say it was the catalyst for the Dark Phoenix, but there was so much more that could have been done!
- The beginning of X-Men: The Last Stand had the first time a character was de-aged! This made Professor X and Magneto look kinda freaky. It wasn't realistic.
- We've learned to do de-aging much better in Marvel movies! So it makes the scene super out-of-place in comparison to other superhero flicks! They even kinda ruined Juggernaut's whole origin, making him a mutant - which isn't the real comic book thing.
- That fight between Kitty Pryde and Juggernaut was funny - way more like a cartoon. He's the ultimate enemy for the X-Men!
They definitely made some misteps that kinda make the movie age poorly - they even did that thing where they brought Professor X back to life, in that weird, super random ending! If they did a whole new X-men reboot, maybe it would be better, right?!
This trilogy set up the rest of the X-Men films. Now, those Movies are gonna make sure that X-Men stay in that awesome spot at the top!
