Austin Butler, actor of Dune: Part Two and The Bikeriders, teases his new character in Ari Aster's upcoming film Eddington. If Eddington is anything like his previous films, audiences are in for a twisted treat. Aster began his career in horror, with his debut picture Hereditary getting wonderful reviews and a low box office gross. It presently has a 90% rating from critics on review aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes and has made $87 million worldwide off a $10 million budget. Aster's appetite for horror continued with 2019's Midsommar, which received positive reviews and grossed well at the movie office. His third and most recent film, Beau is Afraid, was more of an anxiety-inducing dark comedy, confusing and even disappointing fans expecting another horror thriller.
While there are little information about Eddington, Aster appears to be sticking with dark comedy rather than straight-up horror. While this may frustrate some viewers, Butler is correct: Aster has a sick sense of humor. It's so twisted that some may find what the director thinks humorous to be horrifying, as some scenes in Beau is Afraid aroused dread while making the audience laugh. Yeah, I'm a big admirer of Ari, Joaquin [Phoenix], Emily [Emma Stone], [DP] Darius Khondji, and everyone involved. The entire crew was fantastic to work with. I don't want to spoil the tale or the characters, but it was a wild experience that I got to go on. I got to play a character who was quite different from anything else I'd done. Ari and I have been friends for a little while, and it was fantastic to see him on set. He is an outstanding filmmaker with great confidence, a sense of humor, and a fantastic imagination. I absolutely enjoyed working with him.
