Shaak Ti's Multiple Deaths: Star Wars Canon and Legends

Shaak Ti's Multiple Deaths: A Jedi's Unlucky End in the Star Wars Universe!

Shaak Ti: The Jedi Who Just Couldn't Seem to Stay Alive!

Shaak Ti, that awesome Togruta Jedi Master from the Star Wars prequels, met a grim end during Order 66. But unlike most Jedi, Shaak Ti has an incredibly unique distinction – she died...a LOT! Her various onscreen and offscreen deaths; including all those from video games, and even several planned, scrapped ideas showcases just how complicated Shaak Ti’s actual death became. Created for the prequels, she's also in The Clone Wars, making a final live-action appearance in Revenge of the Sith.

George Lucas seemingly tried very hard to kill her off—and in various ways and numerous projects. She had five deaths across that whole franchise.  Only one is truly canon though; the remaining ones however serve to tell interesting stories and showcases what actually made Shaak Ti’s legacy such a bizarre and unexpected development in that larger Star Wars continuity. Buckle up, because this ride is seriously intense!

5. General Grievous's Almost-Successful Attack (Revenge of the Sith - Deleted Scene)

The first planned demise is a deleted scene from Revenge of the SithAnakin and Obi-Wan find Shaak Ti with Grievous and some MagnaGuards.  Grievous quickly stabs Shaak Ti. This moment would never have been canon, though, as this scene gets cut purely to reduce Revenge of the Sith's runtime.

4. Anakin’s Deadly Strike (Revenge of the Sith - Another Deleted Scene!)

Another Revenge of the Sith deleted scene involves Anakin killing Shaak Ti in the Jedi Temple during Order 66. It's very unfinished – unpolished effects, an animatic battle. This scene wasn't considered canon at the time of the movie’s release, but then another unexpected release shows something else –  LEGO Star Wars: The Video Game shows Anakin beheading her, which somewhat makes things surprisingly less uncertain about the specifics in its development!

3. The Sarlacc Pit Showdown: Starkiller vs Shaak Ti in Star Wars: The Force Unleashed

Lucas had no role writing the storyline, but gave approval for Shaak Ti's death; another unique moment and important encounter featured in this release:  Starkiller (Darth Vader's secret apprentice) duels and defeats Shaak Ti on Felucia, dropping her into a Sarlacc pit after their battle concluded, before she has time to tell Starkiller a certain prophecy. Those early story ideas for the game involved alternate death moments and various characters including princess Leia and even Alderaan as a backdrop for that particular battle which creates another very interesting and intriguing alternative to consider.

2. Another Force Unleashed Ending: A Different Way to Kill Shaak Ti!

Those versions of The Force Unleashed had different scenes depicting Shaak Ti’s death: the Nokia N-Gage version has Starkiller using the Force to make a plant kill her (a bit more straightforward) even another release showed only minimal graphics and without a dialogue scene at all, totally simplifying things.

1. Canonically Confirmed Death: Shaak Ti in The Clone Wars (Season 6!)

This was revealed to be canon; it even changed how those past plot elements surrounding the numerous versions previously highlighted is actually revealed. In "Voices," Yoda's vision of Order 66 shows Shaak Ti being killed, confirming this death for Star Wars canon following Disney’s major reboot of 2014.
