Rotten Tomatoes is known for its Tomatometer. But "Verified Hot Movies" shows another kind of scoring based on audiences! It is a way to highlight Audience Scores Movies. Rotten Tomatoes Verified Hot has a score for audiences known as "Rotten Tomatoes Popcornmeter."
Movies Rotten Tomatoes have both Audience Scores Movies and Critic Scores Movies. While there's a ton of overlap, over three dozen titles that earned the Verified Hot score were not appreciated by Critics! This includes "Uncharted Movie" or the drama "Maleficent Mistress of Evil". If you look further, even those highly rated "Movies Certified Fresh" can show significant splits between those scores!
It's more than just preference! It could be down to the fact that these movies don't hit the expectations for more "serious" films or that the films have a strong Audience that supports the content that the films produce, which is where the difference in "Movies Critics Hated" comes in.
