Based on John Grisham's debut novel, A Time to Kill is set in Mississippi and focuses on the intense courtroom drama.  Samuel L. Jackson is on trial for murdering two men who raped his young daughter; and Matthew McConaughey takes on his lawyer!  Oliver Platt plays Harry Rex Vonner; that supportive associate providing backup. The intense legal battles and the deeply human themes surrounding race relations made this entire movie into an incredibly satisfying legal thriller. It really highlighted Platt's versatility and made the film so incredibly important;  earning critical acclaim plus various awards!

9. Chicago Med (2015-Present): A Long-Running Medical Drama

Platt plays Dr. Daniel Charles, the head of psychiatry at Gaffney Chicago Medical Center in this part of Dick Wolf’s One Chicago franchise! Platt’s TV career includes the incredibly awesome The West Wing;  that iconic series from Aaron Sorkin! He played Oliver Babish, the White House Counsel and helps handle major issues involving President Bartlet's MS diagnosis and adds this additional element to his incredible story arc; this incredible scene demonstrates Platt’s continued ability and showcases some powerful scenes highlighting what human struggle means.   That got Platt his first Emmy nod. A fantastic showcase which only this particular series, and Oliver Platt could convey so effectively! He is truly amazing!
