MCU Wish List: Marvel actors Reveal Their Dream Projects!
The MCU's Biggest Stars Spill the Beans: Their Dream Marvel Movies
The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has given us countless amazing characters; bringing to life those beloved heroes and villains from Marvel comics. But which future MCU projects do those actors want? Many actors want more screen time— whether in solo projects or team-ups— for some seriously underused characters and plot arcs, generating plenty of rumors in recent months regarding possible upcoming production projects!
And it gets even better; things are shifting within the MCU itself. Disney and Marvel recently announced scaling back on MCU projects; reducing the overall amount of new productions planned; generating some anxieties that audiences who love this genre might begin to notice those kinds of absences and lack of continued production. Despite this major shift, those MCU stars themselves want certain projects made and continue to show interest; their support means fans really, really want this, too. So, let’s look at ten Marvel projects that would excite fans, too!
Top 10 MCU Movie Wish List: From Actors Themselves!
10. Nick Fury's Next Mission: A Long-Overdue Solo Film
Since his Iron Man post-credits scene debut, Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury has been a mainstay! He’s brought together the Avengers multiple times and guided various MCU characters through major changes; adding immense depth to every storyline. His own solo project in Secret Invasion was a smash hit; however a potential sequel might also add additional details and expand the world he helped create!
Back in 2014 (after Captain America: The Winter Soldier), Jackson hinted about his character’s massive potential in a solo movie – that could have followed those crucial events and would fill gaps that needed additional exploration and would also potentially serve as the key for explaining many developments in Secret Invasion! A new project after his recent show could explore that amazing relationship between Fury and SABER in The Marvels. It would further demonstrate the larger network created.
9. Groot's Home Planet: An Adventure on Planet X
After the success of I am Groot (2022), Vin Diesel (Groot’s voice actor) thanked Marvel, and hinted that Marvel wants a Planet X movie. That’s huge! Groot’s Flora Colossus species hail from there – a fact confirmed through Guardians of the Galaxy. We got glimpses but those scenes never fully delivered on what a Planet X setting could achieve for the universe!
Groot’s future remains unclear after Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. But that origin story for Groot and Rocket written by James Gunn might end up on the big screen. Even though future contributions from Vin Diesel as Groot remain uncertain due to recent legal problems; these things do not rule out an entirely new project exploring this relatively undeveloped area, this important setting which should be featured within the overall MCU storytelling arc; showing just how big Groot's contribution truly was to the Marvel Universe.
8. Midnight Sons Assemble: Moon Knight Joins the Supernatural Team-Up!
Oscar Isaac's Moon Knight was an awesome addition in Phase 4, bringing the superhero world’s own occult elements into prominence; becoming a favorite for many audiences who like this particular blend. Speaking in Abu Dhabi (2024) at Middle East Film and Comic-Con, Isaac revealed interest for a Midnight Sons movie and explained why this was a brilliant approach: "There’s such interesting characters in there, and now that we’ve set the groundwork with learning who Marc, Steven, Jake are, it could be an interesting opportunity to see him as part of a team and what that dynamic would be." He suggests interest in future stories; bringing about a chance for greater exploration and developing an even stronger narrative. Even though a film like that remains unconfirmed, his comment highlights interest, from other cast members toward exploring a key segment that involves those more supernatural areas.
7. Mac Gargan's Rise: Scorpion or Venom—The MCU’s Choice!
Fans demanded a comeback for Michael Mando's Mac Gargan (from Spider-Man: Homecoming). Mando himself even suggested this, during an interview, mentioning how interested he remains towards this “detective who goes rogue” idea! That could either build towards that infamous Scorpion (that would tie into existing storylines) or even the insanely powerful Venom symbiotic storyline.
This is still completely untapped; there's so much unexplored here that fans haven’t actually seen onscreen despite being critically well-known elements already established from Marvel’s extensive publications! This could easily fit with that impending Spider-Man 4 movie (a new trilogy!)— even creating a perfect gateway for Venom after that latest Sony movie release!
6. Star-Lord's Return: Earthbound Adventures After Guardians 3
Chris Pratt's Star-Lord returned to Earth in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3; seemingly setting the stage for him being part of the larger ensemble, and those upcoming projects involving other members. Despite the show leaving the audience wondering, Pratt said he’s interested— though working without James Gunn would be incredibly hard! This is quite possible, as the two of them worked incredibly well; especially during this phase.
There's a ton of opportunities for a Star-Lord solo film – this new direction in that current MCU timeline is already quite popular for those newer, incoming members and storylines. This new arc would serve as a major bridge between cosmic storylines with the ongoing struggles found at ground level; showcasing Star-Lord’s unique value that many might never otherwise actually notice or see properly developed.
5. Black Widow and Hawkeye's Shared Past: Unraveling their Friendship
Scarlett Johansson mentioned wanting a story exploring Black Widow's and Hawkeye's (Jeremy Renner) shared past! It’s been hinted but never truly delved into; showing just why this specific storyline involving those two individuals who worked closely for so long and endured many changes really needs exploring. This might just tie into the existing MCU timeline!
While Renner might return;Johansson's Black Widow death adds immense complexity and implies something rather unexpected; potentially requiring the utilization of a prequel setup to effectively showcase the necessary details. This is made to fully emphasize how those smaller storylines impacting individual character backstories need some kind of recognition.
4. World War Hulk? The Incredible Hulk's Potential New Adventure
That infamous Hulk solo movie never came, which might involve rights issues between Marvel and Universal, despite it having enormous appeal for audiences. Yet Mark Ruffalo's Hulk remains a big player. And Ruffalo mentioned this during an interview where he is clearly quite thoughtful about the necessary storyline. This really showcases an important aspect to this potentially big event:
“I’ve been asked not to comment on it, that specifically. Hopefully one day though they’ll work it out. I think it could be really cool and I’ve been putting a lot into what it could be to be cool, but I don’t know yet.”
That might just point toward a World War Hulk adaptation— that iconic storyline from the comics– creating an amazing arc for that increasingly popular Hulk and demonstrating the character's sustained contributions over a very long timeline. This really would create an event! And fans already anticipating a larger ensemble would certainly become deeply invested.
3. Bucky Barnes’ Solo Mission: The Winter Soldier's Untold Stories
Sebastian Stan wants a Winter Soldier solo film. And even though Bucky Barnes has more exposure from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (especially transforming into a key supporting player and eventually, fully featured main player within that show’s production) that might never reach those details and various other parts from those significant stories regarding Bucky’s experiences. Even though he might just return in Thunderbolts, fans would likely enjoy seeing more detail regarding his past, possibly including the necessary elements from Captain America’s past— showcasing that many audiences already enjoyed.
2. Gambit's Time to Shine: A Long-Awaited Solo Debut for Remy LeBeau
That iconic Gambit movie never materialized before! Despite many actors trying this very important role, it took a new perspective before Gambit arrived and made a hugely important appearance within the Deadpool & Wolverine movie! It garnered major audience excitement. Even so, there’s still demand; Channing Tatum (the amazing Gambit) mentioned many times wanting this project! Even the possibility that Tatum's Gambit won't have this larger appearance for ongoing storylines does not fully discourage this approach.
1. The Scarlet Witch: Wanda Maximoff's Next Chapter
Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff (who went full Scarlet Witch in WandaVision and Multiverse of Madness) remains highly popular. While she might remain quiet regarding specifics (“I don't know,” she explained to Good Morning America, though she did hint towards “returning” soon enough); Agatha All Along's focus on witches suggests an upcoming story involving Olsen. There's massive demand from the fans for the project as well. The very demand itself might prove incredibly valuable for driving those new products; and to meet audience demand!
Conclusion: The MCU's Future is Packed with Potential!
Many actors from MCU's past might have even bigger and better roles to come; their input hints at the upcoming events and those interesting plotlines planned, some unannounced projects that those Marvel executives want audiences to eventually encounter and become invested in! The scaled-down MCU projects should never mean slowing down their approach. Those star's own preferences highlight what could prove immensely popular! This continued effort by MCU's executive and production crews to meet those demands while carefully considering fan's preferences mean there are reasons for continued hope.
