That's a tough one to believe but yeah, it's true! John Landis, he claims that for every one of his Movies that actually got made, another 12 ended up on the cutting room floor! It’s pretty crazy, but some of those unmade films actually sound pretty good, too!
John Landis Had a Great Idea For a "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" Rewrite!
The one he wanted to direct would have been kind of funny - just imagine: those aliens, that awesome UFO stuff, - it's sci-fi and everything! It might have ended up with that creepy, crazy feeling he did in An American Werewolf in London!
Where Would We Have Seen "Red Sleep"?
- He almost made this one - think vampire stuff, but in the middle of Vegas. A whole different world of those spooky vampires running Las Vegas, as if the whole city was part of that world - no windows in any of the casinos. So good!
Was John Landis Almost Part of the "Mission: Impossible" Franchise?
- You have to believe this! He had this wild idea of a bad guy who pretended to be a missionary but then actually turns into a really nice person. This story sounds kind of funny, too! He had a great concept.
- You also have to see if there's more to that whole John Landis James Bond story! He almost directed that movie, it was almost John Landis's Bond movie! We might have had 007 and his adventures all over a Latin American country.
What Were the Rest of Landis' Ideas?
This director is just a visionary! He wanted to put those An American Werewolf In London characters, and all those creepy vampires, in an awesome western vampire movie - all with a big story about Chinese immigrants in the Old West! He had this idea for this crazy Barnum story with John Belushi, too - about the founder of the circus, who always got the last word, even after he faked his death, - I mean what a fantastic idea!
He had all these great ideas for Movies, it would've been incredible, just a ton of awesome fun.
